Can we no longer be on the move arming ourselves on the fly, drinking two different potions one after the other to perform a maneuver that creates yet another pathway the devs might actually not've thought of? Can we jog across a rooftop, arm the blackjack, jump off and KO an AI on patrol without stopping, and keep running as the guy falls to the ground behind and we put the blackjack away and heal ourselves within milliseconds?
OMG... what's all this ninja action that you're describing? Insta-heal?! Dude, you make me feel
sick! :eww:

Is there a button to drop Garet's hands off the screen?

There are some statements made in this forum that resemble partridge logic:

Personally, for the last weeks I've been thinking to throw my TRUE THIEF FAN badge on the table, too. :erg:

Hahahahaha!
It's a shame the humor and Weekly World News-like mockery in the posts is lost on the inflamed and taken as authentic.

Back on topic, EM also took out the hotkeys for weapons and inventory--obviously not a PC mindset... ...Does the gameworld pause when that huge HUD wheel comes up in the friggin' center of the screen?
Did they? How do you know this?
Can you answer this one question? Vivian has pretty much explained how wrong you are anyway, but I'm asking because this is yet another example of ridiculous extrapolation. DXHR had hotkeys on the PC, why wouldn't Thief?

Eidos Montreal are at pains to explain that many of these things can be switched off, the UI can be tweaked to suit the player and that, if necessary, levels can be ‘ghosted' through (an unseen run where Garrett kills no-one.) But here's the problem with that, and it's a problem that affects pretty much every modern attempt to reboot an older game with a devoted fanbase: the focus is always on “oh, and you can turn this off if you want.”
Think about that. The approach is never, “well, if you find the game a bit hard you can turn on all of these assistance features.” Instead, the tacit implication is that all the extraneous stuff (which the developer knows will infuriate the portion of the audience who actually has any connection to the name Thief, hence the damage control) is now the intended method of play.
Yep! In old Thief:

Harder difficulty didn't mean switching off bits of the UI, it meant additional quest objectives that encouraged wider exploration and no killing.

With all the HUD options turned off, I wonder how lockpicking in 1st-person plays out.
Saw an interview where they made it sound like lockpicking will be achievable through sight (HUD), sound or controller rumble. I think it was the interview where a German guy interviewed Schmidt. 'By sound' would be nice.
Edit: Yes, that interview. See 8:23 mark. (

Schmidt says he believes it can be done through audio, too. That statement is not 100% convincing the audio method is/will be implemented, but it's a nod in the right direction, anyways.

Yeah, borrowing from TDM would be better than other non-Thief games. Thanks.
