It's possible that the bow is being held like that because of Garrett's position--high up in a perch with a rail in the way. See the wooden rail there?
... which would be a cool and realistic feature, if the way the bow is held is predicated by your surrounding environment.
In the demo New Garrett always shoots gangsta style.

$8000 is a small drop in the ocean, yes. One of many possible ones we don't necessarily know about.
Considering it's a number you made up, I don't think anyone should be investing too much in debating it. ;)
There is the cost of making something and then there is the cost EM actually paid for the labor. For the complexity of the pieces they hired these professionals to make, I think $8000 is a bit on the low side. An accurate recreation of Commander Adama's duty uniform from modern Battlestar Galactica is around $1600 dollars. I wouldn't be surprised if both those items cost a lot more.

The one question I do have from that photo is, is the fog on the right-side really being held back by a picket fence?
I think it's lower down, probably drifting in from somewhere else.

Do not underestimate the might of the picket fence!

I was mesmerized by the hands, and missed that.

It's a semi-educated guesstimation. :P
The labor is what would cost the most, but I doubt even Urstadt Swan would design a suit like that for over $5000, materials and all. It was expensive, I'm sure. But not astronomically so. And the bow? Tthe designers make some vague quip about the whole project being over $600 (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WyqH6yYzJY) here. They might've been talking about the materials, though I'm just about sure the labor wouldn't be over $3000 for something like this.
Being able to make both under $8000 is pretty feasible. Whether it was worth it or not is an entirely different story.
edit: Just looked through the Urstadt Swan website. They're a Hollywood costume design company, and are pretty expensive. It could be a little more than $8k.

Adaptive environmental awareness, would be a good thing...yet, I can assure you this is not the case.
For the bow? No. It's always gangsta aimed. The hands are environmentally aware, though. :D

Has anyone seen a video of the flaming building sequence he was complaining about?

So to replenish focus, you have to collect...opium.
DAMN THAT'S COOL!
(And it explains Garrett's "heroin chic" look. A lot of thought really
did go into this!)

I'm imagining the demos with everything turned off and it looks to me pretty much how Thief should in 2013. No game, not one, not ever, there are no examples that started in the late 90's and have sequels that look and play the same today.
Not be unpopular but, the Heroes of Might and Magic series, though it did start in the *mid* 90's, continues to this day by a company that understands the MM series. :) This is evidenced by the fact that they have whole heartedly included the real fans of the series to assist in the overall direction. That, is part of what MM is famous/infamous for. Hey, fans names have even been included in the games themselves many a time. ;) Carry on, Taffers. :bandit
