One of the previews mentioned a headless arrow used purely for creating a distraction.
I wonder if they can also be used as the base for creating other arrows? The trailers show Garrett attaching things onto existing arrow shafts...seems like a bit of a stretch as a game mechanic, but who knows. A "blunt arrow"doesn't seem like a valid replacement for a noise arrow if that's its only function...if it only makes a normal arrow impact noise, why not just use a broadhead?

(
http://games.tiscali.cz/prvni-dojmy/e3-2013-dojmy-thief-se-zapomnel-inspirovat-u-dishonored-63175) This here Czech preview doesn't sound very optimistic, the author apparently being a proper thief player. He was allowed to play it himself, so it does contain some interesting (new?) information.
- all the visual clues can be turned off, including focus
- the escape sequence is long (almost 10 minutes) and annoyingly out of place, full of QTEs and feels Tomb Raider-like
- lack of verticality in the demo, compared to Dishonored
- Garrett wouldn't climb up/through many apparently reachable ledges and windows, only where it's predefined. There's a path set out for you
- the actual stealth feels right and very fluid, AI acts natural

I'm fairly certain I remember reading an article that stated the portions of gameplay that were shown (and given to people for play) were basically just put together for demo purposes - so who knows how much of what those people played during these stage demos will actually be in the final game. It's still a long time until it's released.

In that case Bethesda Softwork isn't dedicated either since in Oblivion you hold the bow in the same way while sneaking. The same applies to Skyrim probably, although I haven't played that yet.

Indeed. Many demos are put together in the same way for E3. Unfortunately people seem to act like Thief would be released in the following weeks in this exact state.

You're implying that it makes holding a bow like that less stupid/unreal?

i don't think is a stupid position holding the bow like that.
Simply you find yourself doing that when you are in a crouch position, so i think is logic and acceptable for Garrett to do that.
imho ofc.

And it's those same people that latch on to second hand impressions of a pre-beta demo and run off to forums to shout from the rooftops that (Insert any game here) is a colossal disappointment and everyone should burn down the developer's offices before ever seeing/playing the final result of all the development time in between.
All someone has to do is read a few threads here to think this is going to be the worst game ever released minutes after the first gameplay demo was shown.
