Yeah, I got that.
I hate this: "Play the game. Enjoy the story. You'll have all the answers you ever wanted.":mad::mad:
Rope arrows --YAAAAYY! Predetermined points to use them -- misses the whole point! :tsktsk:
More 1st-person than previously suggested by screenshots -- whew!

I've seen many are happy that the rope arrows are back, ok they are, but they are useless! They can only be shot in specific pre-determined places, you can't go anywhere you like.
It's not like all the surfaces in the original games were made of wood. Hell a good portion of the time you shot an arrow at something that looked like it should have been made of wood only to have it clang off the surface as if it were metal instead. They may not have been highlighted but you more or less had a few specific spots you could use the arrows in for those instances as well.
Granted there were a few levels that were more rope arrow friendly than others but I think this is another case of nostalgia poisoning.

I enjoyed seeing guards say, "Frigging" a couple times in the Twitch video yesterday (when captions were turned on). That sounds very Thiefy Universe to me. /sarcasm

(3:33 & 6:34)"I wonder if this turns off all the water in the gardens."
(4:44)Hmm, I just don't know... with water flowing like a waterfall right above it. (A prime example of Garrett unnecessarily, and possibly constantly, stating the obvious, like we heard in previews a couple months back.)

Even if it's on the easiest difficulty only, that'll get old.

I hope the "next gen" dog gets improved someday to look and act more next gen.

(3:33 & 6:34)Don't worry, they are giving their best to work "taffer" into the game somehow. It will be just like old times. Trust me.
They will have both modern swearing for the modern audiences and silly old words for silly old fans. Everyone wins!

I'm not really sure what exactly it is you're asking in your first sentence? You want me to name non-AAA games that are not affected the state of the AAA industry?
Regardless, if you want a comparison between my and your tastes, I thought Dishonored was a pretty weak stealth game, too linear for its own good, lacking in any significant challenge and the AI was dumb to the point that stealth was an absolute cakewalk. Deus Ex HR was alright for a Deus Ex game, but it was nothing spectacular. The amount of options you had for missions were often way too limited compared to what we saw in the original Deus Ex, usually just limiting the player's choices to stealthing his way through, hacking the security or shooting his way through levels. It was better than IW, but it still borrowed too much from IW and not enough from DX1.
If you want further comparisons for stealth games I enjoy, I liked the Splinter Cell series up until Chaos Theory. After CT the quality of the games decreased until they hit rock bottom in Conviction.
I meant to say AAA games that "are" unaffected. It's moot now. We're not going to agree on much because it's pretty clear we're on different pages. If SC is an example of a good stealth game to you, then I can't understand how you enjoyed Thief in the first place.
Either way, I've said all I can about it, so I'll leave the rest of you to piss and moan for the next year and quietly go back to enjoying games made for real people, in a real universe. Cheers.

I think the whole next gen dog thing is them making fun of Call of Duty, where they made this absolutely huge freaking deal about your dog companion during the Xbox One presentation.
And Nickie, thanks for the link. :D

The Wicher 3, Watch Dogs, Mirror Edge, The Evil Within, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs... For the first time in many years I am looking forward to other games more than new Thief. :(
Let's hope that we'll be seeing some better quality and more interesting gameplay footage in the next weeks.

You better mention Dark Souls 2, or I will punch you in the neck, Bukary.
