I wonder if we'll get to see any other locations besides The City during E3, or any other factions besides The City Watch? Every Thief game to date has had multiple types of both, and I'm hoping EM is sticking to that tradition, no matter what form it takes. But every single screenshot/vid so far has been Guards and The City.

Based upon how weak focus turned out to be! When do you get to RUN and jump and swing in this game?!
This is another problem I see quite a bit of around here. You extrapolate a lot based on very little evidence. Like the demo was likely focused on an area that allowed EM to show off a few specific gameplay features right in a row. Just because it's rather narrow doesn't mean the entire game is going to be like that. Just because it takes place in a mansion doesn't mean the entire game is going to be breaking into houses.
You, I, and everyone else here haven't seen enough of the game to be able to judge how wide, tall, big, or small the various missions are going to be.
But one thing is for sure, they will NOT be as small as what we saw in TDS.

Just watched the gamespot gameplay trailer. It certainly looks better. I couldn't help but notice that the cinematic opening scene looked like Assassin's Creed. (Not great, but not terrible. Just kinda forgettable.)
Currently my biggest problems are still the third person take downs and Garrett's voice.
Man that voice just really grated on me this time. Even more than before. He's just trying so hard to sound like a stealth hero and he just doesn't have the sarcasm. Not yet anyway.
Also, at around 9 minutes, the guards walk through each other.

The second video is much, much better, although there are still problems.
First, the pluses:
Dogs! Cool! Though I notice it's caged...a clever way to not have to worry about animations or pathfinding. Wonder if they'll have loose ones?
XP sounds more like a stealth score system than something you use for purchases
There is a lightgem, kinda
AI animations look pretty decent
Negatives
Why the hell would you darken (or flash white) half the screen when there's already a lightgem giving you the same information?
Everything in the environment is so very blue....
AI walk right _through_ each other during search, without even an attempt to go around.
Loot glint is back and brighter than ever, even without focus
Considering how much they're touting "next gen" graphics, the particle effects don't seem terribly impressive to me, especially the water arrow.
On screen radar????
One thing that wasn't clear...is there an inventory? Or do the "health pickups" just activate when you pick them up?

This is kind of a problem. I think both it and the cloak are distracting as hell.

Well, it's running in debug mode, and still has about a year to go before it's sent out the door. I'm writing it off as a beta bug.

More like a toggleable onscreen map that fills up about half the screen. Personally, I don't think it's that terrible of an idea. It's too big to keep up all the time, but bringing it up doesn't take you out of the game entirely.

I know it bothers a few people that Garrett jumps down off a bridge and knocks a guard out - but who hasn't done a jumping knockout while playing? It's fun when you're playing as a knockout artist style thief (Not killing anyone, of course) to vary the methods you use to give the guards their unannounced naptimes. I think the mistake they made before (If I remember correctly) was showing him kill the guard Assassin's creed style instead of blackjacking him.
The (
http://www.gamespot.com/e3/thief-6409869/) Gamespot Gameplay Video was way better than the first at showing the overall atmosphere. The hands aren't nearly as pronounced as I thought they'd be either.
I still don't like the 'shadow fog' that fills the screen to show you in cover. As someone else said it's redundant and honestly more distracting than anything. I'm sure you'd 'get used to it' after many hours of play but I'd rather not have it at all.
I can also already tell that graphic-wise this game will not be compared favorably to other games that will come out when it does but I think that's something we've become used to at this point :laff:
