Much better then I thought after hearing the first few reactions on the other thread, despite a few glaring bad spots.
Good:
- almost no third person
- died during combat
- no specialized combat weapon
- visibility in shadows doesn't look like a binary switch
- hands work well when they're actually doing something
- all the basic gameplay seems intact and working well
- potentially nice atmosphere
Bad:
- that shadow on the edge of the screen is WAY too intrusive when in complete darkness
- hands look bad when they're not doing anything
- special hud elements popping up all over the place

F$@K old-school mode, how about this?! Make the game properly around proper features, and then post-production add in a
codfag mode instead.
And you wonder why your posts get censored. I do like how you censored yourself on F$@K yet flung fag out there without worrying about it, though.

So his hands actually DO float around on screen all the time? Even when a weapon is equipped? What the heck? Is he walking like a zombie? It gave me flashbacks to the Doom3 fists. Completely ridiculous.
That "cloak" is incredibly obtrusive. Takes up almost a third of the screen and looks ridiculous.
What is with the pop-ups over the guard's heads? Please tell me that is some kind of dev mode and that AI don't have words floating over their head while you play the game.
Giant, unnecessary wheel that takes up 50% of the screen every time you want to change weapons? Ridiculous.
You can block a sword with your blackjack?? Ridiculous.
Blinking red lights on the screen tell you WHERE the AI are even when you can't see them??? Fcking ridiculous.

My censor-list was created by George Carlin. I don't remember seeing that one in there. Alright, maybe i just overlooked that one, but we're not all perfect. See E3 Thief gameplay footage for supporting examples.

I have to believe that these will be the main complaints everyone has after seeing that footage. The weapon wheel reminds me of the companion wheel in the Fallout games. Definitely console centric UI - hopefully it gets tweaked for the PC version. The good news is that they all seem like things easily fixed even if the developers won't consider them broken.
I doubt the giant weapon wheel will be much of an issue on PC where folks usually map everything to a hotkey anyway. If we're forced to use that then it becomes a whole different issue.

Completely agree. The only nice thing I can say is that graphically, it looked nice. Outside of that, Garretts hands and the fog on the edges of the screen was incredibly distracting. I also lol'd at the experience gains on kills. Hey, at least they brought water arrows backs, that is something right?! :laff:

Got to love those hands...very distracting...there would have to be something wrong with someone to be walking around all the time with their hands like that.
XP/Leveling-up = completely wrong and unacceptable for THIEF...This violates the tenet of non-progressive character skill.
3rd-person takedowns/climbing = immersion-breaking blasphemy...Which is completely unnecessary and game-diminishing.
Yes my friends...the nightmare is finally unfolding...:nono:

sad, i agree.
4 years of wait for this thing ?
sorry for the developers but i am in rage..
a totally disrespectful silly commercial operation.
incredible... :tsktsk:
but the worst thing are the lies to cover the true... i can't accept to being fooled in this way.
Good luck selling this game EM .. sure i will not be one of the buyers

- no darkness, only fog
Did you have your gamma jacked up 200% or something? There's darkness everywhere.
