Let me summarize what I see:
- Gaining experience
- Edge of the screen dark fog filter
- Flashy 3rd person takedowns
- Headshots
- Playing aggressively is supported more than it should be
- Lack of any real dark corners and shadows
- Flashy 3rd person takedowns
- Dishonored 2
- Flashy 3rd person takedowns

- Icon over guards heads when you are spotted
- no darkness, only fog
- PUSH X TO TAKEDOWN
- 2seconds for opening doors
- headshoot = 40xp

The atmosphere seemed really well done. The environment looks good and I noticed lots of effects here and there that will add to the mood of the levels if used well. They really didn't show much outside of someone pressing switches and fighting guards so it's hard to tell if that's basically as deep as the game is going to get.
The HUD elements are certainly something I hope they'll allow to be toggled off. I'm guessing they're an element of the new focus mechanic though so who knows if they'll allow that or not. If not I'm sure it'll be remedied by the community somehow even without editing tools.
Focus itself looks like something obviously more suited for a Dues Ex game than a Thief game but they seem determined to put it in so hopefully it feels better on a playthrough than it does watching someone else play it badly. Being able to pickpocket multiple items one at a time from a single enemy looks cool. Maybe they'll use that expanded pickpocket mechanic to allow us to swap items like keys and to put things into the guards pockets that will harm them.
Water arrows looked fine and I liked the hands grabbing the wall when you lean around corners. Hopefully the hands aren't out the entire time, though. If so I hope the field of vision on them is adjustable.
The weird border around the screen I could do without. They should scrap that before release - it's distracting and looks bad. As far as the combat it looked just as clunky as it was in Thief 3 and dare I say slightly less clunky than The Dark Mod. I doubt the Thief series is ever going to get melee combat correct being that it should be avoided when possible anyway. Third person action events are distracting but probably something we'll have to get used to in all games going forward anyway.

I've already posted this on the Eidos forums, but seeing how its going to get censored in the next 5 minutes, I don't feel too bad about copying and pasting it here:
Great, the game was designed with a big ol' xbone thumbstick wheel-o-weapons that slows down time by 5x. Who the f needs focus when you can jump in a goddamn time machine every time you switch weapons. Pretty obvious who this game was designed for... ugh.
Btw any chance I can hit the 'g' key to wipe all that sh** off my face like in Metro LL? Or do I right-click and open up the console-port timemachine wheel and do it? Kthxbai

Getting rid of the pop up stuff and having the hands not extended so far would help considerably.

Heeeey, not bad! :D My main concern was about the engine but the way the guards reacted when he messed up on the first attempt shows that it clearly isn't a "faked demo" like we heard rumors about. Oh and did you guys notice that it didn't cut to 3rd person when he was fighting the guards? Glad to see the 3rd person stuff was minimal.
The way Garrett holds on to walls when leaning around them I like, but the way he holds them up while crouched I don't like. Looks silly.
Actually the whole thing feels a bit like Skyrim. Slo-motion archery, cuts to 3rd person, the setting, etc.
Yeah. Not bad. Though, so far: not great either.

I also agree that the atmosphere looks good.
The hand being used to open doors, pick pockets, and push buttons works for me, but having them out in front while sneaking/crouching is odd.
The faded screen border doesn't make sense, unless that is suppose to be related to your hood and mask you have over your face.
This is the PS4 version, so the on screen elements may be different on the xbox or pc, or you may be able to turn them off in that old-school mode they were talking about before.

F$@K old-school mode, how about this?! Make the game properly around proper features, and then post-production add in a codfag mode instead.

There's a lot to digest, even in this small demo, but one thing that bothers me is the XP stuff. I really don't like the thought of Thief being some kind of pseudo or light RPG, where Garrett is constantly upgrading his skills. What, are we going to have tech trees now? Should Garrett put points into lockpicking or The Bow Upgrade? Ugh.
