I'm glad this Thief game was never made ;)

High Level Game GoalCore gameplay in the previous Thief titles was too slow-paced, too passive. We want make it fun/accessible by adding new core features/movement modes that are faster paced and active in nature
Always have to add more action to attract more gamers!

On second thoughts, it's entirely possible that I'm misinterpreting a document that reads quite a lot like internal marketing material aimed at Eidos.

Well, that pitch sounded pretty horrible to be honest.
I still think the modern setting could work in theory though, if it was kept more in the spirit of the original thief games.
But I wonder if a new Thief-like game in a modern setting would sell better than an equivalent in a medieval setting. Considering the success of e.g. Game of Thrones today, would a fantasy setting have more "mass appeal"?

I'd play the hell out of a thief set in a 70's new york taxi-driver / rosemary's baby / hammer horror version of the city.

That these documents emerged now really makes me wonder. Given the time that passed since Thief 2014 without us hearing anything about the plans for Thief's future, could it be possible that SE and EM are considering this direction for the next Thief title, and that this is the way for them to gauge community reaction?

I seriously doubt it, they never seemed very concerned with the Thief community's opinion on Teef, so I don't know why they would start caring now.

Something about "Senator Bafford" cracks me up :laff:

How do you guys interpret "lightweight, but dramatic story"? No depth but dead lead characters?
Starker on 5/12/2016 at 19:04
In games? Scarcity of cutscenes, simple plot. Something that doesn't spend a lot of time on exposition or complex relationships between the characters. For example, Shadow of the Colossus has a lightweight but dramatic story. Or the original Thief, for that matter.
