Hey guys!
First of all, sorry for my English.
I've been looking for a solution to this problem for ages... I have Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, GeForce 8800GT and Win XP.
When I first installed the game it worked without any problems and I was able to play the first mission. I got out of the game, turned of my computer and then the next day when I wanted to play again it just comes up with a message, something like "Failed to launch the game, the application took too long to respond". And that's it! When I tried to uninstall the game it says "Failed to open install.log" and that's when I have to do it "manually" - erase everything by myself... I've tried installing the game again but the problem remains the same...
Can someone help me with this, PLEASE?! I really need to play this game!

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, when Id installed Far cry. It worked without any problems the first couple of days and then I got the same error-message as you. Tried to re-install the game several times, only to face the same error. A few days later it turned out my computer was infected by some nasty virus of some sort, which forced me to re-install WinXP :-P
Afterwards I installed, played and finished Far cry without any problems.

Hm... Weird. I only recently installed XP and Thief 3 was the first game I tried... It's hard to believe that some virus is the problem, but nevertheless I'm scanning the whole computer. I'm not the only one having this problem, I found a couple more threads on some other forums and people are complaining about the same thing... No solution yet, unfortunately... :tsktsk:
