Hello Hadley, and thanks for the great work.
Unfortunately, the patcher will not work on my system for some reason. It says it can't open the T3Main file, even though it is installed in the default C:\Program Files\Thief - Deadly Shadows\System directory. I've tried to run the patch on Version 1.0 and 1.1 without success. Running as administrator on 32bit Vista.
What am I doing wrong?

Hmm... There could be several things going wrong, so I just updated the patcher to be a little more descriptive when it can't open the file. Try the version at (
http://www.foxular.net/asdf/t3_widescreen.exe) . It'll still probably fail, but will be a lot more helpful in letting you know why.

Tried this one, but still only...
Could not open T3main.exe! Make sure that you place this program into Thief - Deadly Shadows\System\!
Press enter to exit...My T3main is definitely in the default install directory, clean install, no modifications to any .cfg or .ini files.
It's an original retail copy of the game, anti-virus disabled when patching. If others have successfully used the patch, must be something my end, I guess. Thanks for trying.

Hmm... Make sure you're running the one from the foxular.net link, it should give a little more information now, like:
Could not open T3main.exe! Make sure that you place this program into Thief - Deadly Shadows\System\!
Error received: 2 - No such file or directory
Current directory: I:\foxnet\asdf

Make sure the patch program is IN the Thief 3 directory. It looks in whatever directory you run it from.

Okay, eventually realised that Google Chrome was keeping a cached copy of the download, so I was using the same patch all the time. The other reason was good old stupidity, as I was indeed not running it from the correct directory - your new messages pointed that out quite well. Duh! Got your new one and it worked like a charm.
You're a genius, many thanks.

I found this thread while searching for why Thief 3 locks up on me when I enable widescreen support. I eventually tracked down the cause of the freeze, and made a utility to modify T3Main.exe so this crash doesn't happen, and figured I may as well share my findings with others having this trouble.
It looks like some routine I didn't bother to fully understand enters an infinite loop. By making it leave the routine no matter what happens, rather than going into an infinite loop, I was able to fix the crash.
The program also lets you modify the program so you can type in your own custom resolutions, rather than using Resolution=-1 in options.ini

Man am I glad you posted this Hadley! I've been having the same problem for years, and even gave up playing DS on a big screen because of it. Your program fixed it. Big time thanks to you good sir.

I'm having the same Locking Up problem when trying to finish the first level or when going to the load screen. I also can not download the file as the Drop.IO Servie is discontinued. Where can I get the file to fix this?
