Still crashing... I was about to blame the gremlins when I realised something! Does it make any difference, that my version of T3 is bought from Steam?
Hmm... It's probably not likely, but it could be something. Would you be able to send me a copy of your T3main.exe, in hopes that I'll be able to get the crash to occur? You could post it at (
http://www.foxular.net/upload/) (just leave the password blank, I'll still be able to retrieve the file from there)

Just got it, thanks. It looks like the file does have some differences, I'm gonna start digging through it now to see what's going on.

Hmm... Looks like the file only really differs in some of the headers up top... All the code itself is otherwise the exact same, and over here the patch works fine. I can't see why this patch wouldn't be working for you :/

Well, thanks for trying!

Just made another randomish attempt at patching this. Now, instead of messily exiting from the function when it breaks, it changes a variable somewhere so that a different code path executes and it doesn't get caught at an infinite loop. Updated version is at (
http://www.foxular.net/upload/files/t3_widescreen.exe) , give it another go and see what happens.

Whoops, wrong URL. I meant (
http://www.foxular.net/asdf/t3_widescreen.exe) . That's what I get for not testing my links first.

Awesome, I'll go ahead and update the .zip at drop.io with this version.
