Ok, here's one: When I try to change my key bindings from the menu with my gamepad attached, it crashes the game. But, just for the sake of messing around, I would like to be able to bind functions to my gamepad.
So I was thinking I could set the bindings from the Default.ini. I gave this a shot, but the changes don't seem to work when I actually load the game up. Anyone have an idea on how to do this? I wouldn't mind basically using the X-Box controls that are listed there, since I'm using an X-Box gamepad anyway. :p And yes, I tried copy-pasting them over; As I said, they don't seem to work in-game.

I wrote about this just a few posts up. It's seemingly working for me. Guards are coming after me at more than 20 feet away in dim lighting, where as before, they would only say, "I thought I saw..." and then give up. Make sure you Restart the level (Load screen -> Restart) on the correct setting.
Just saw this ...
will copy & paste
"Go to the Thief - Deadly ShadowsSystem directory
Copy the DEFAULT.INI file for backup
Then Open the DEFAULT.INI with a texteditor like notepad.
Scroll to the [Difficulty] section. or use the find option ;)
AI visual acuity multiplier - how well AIs can see
AI auditory acuity multiplier - how well AIs can hear
AI tactile acuity multiplier - how well AIs can feel
AI hitpoints multiplier - all AI starting hitpoints will be scaled by this
AI-to-player damage multiplier - all damage applied to the player by the AI is scaled by this
change the multiplier for see/hear/feel/hitpoints//damage to whatever u feel like, (0)zero usually does it hehe.
As u can see the settings are for easy/normal/hard or expert level. If u want u can change them all, but its not necessary just remember which one u changed.

okay - this would rock - I think I shall bump them up a wee bit more - 2.5 perhaps me = hard core
How can we get garrett to make a sound when crouching? The game is far too easy otherwise!
Does the type of floor that you step on affect the guards hearing in this game or not? That is by defination thief for me - it would really suck if this has been streamlined!
oh an obvious tweak
in default ini under T3 setting change
CurrentDifficulty=NORMAL
to
CurrentDifficulty=EXPERT so that you don't mistakenly start a mission on normal (I guess not tried yet)

In the spirit of requests...I know someone posted that they had shrunk the loot glow. I don't want to turn it off entirely, just shrink it a bit so it is less noticeable. I don't want to search through the 15+ pages of this thread though...could someone post it again so it can be added to the tweak thread?
here's two glows, one very dark and one a bit brighter.
(

(
http://www.planet.nl/~jette073/gotcha/img/partlootglint_medium.bmp) medium glow
remove the "_medium" or "_dark" from the name and import it in the file
"Kernel_GFXALL.ibt" with dxtool

The last screenshot you posted was a little too dark for my tastes...was that the dark or medium glow? Could you post a screenie of the lighter of the two?

So wait, the closer to Zero the smarter they get? Maybe thats why the I didn't see a difference when I was increasing the numbers. I was effectively making them dumber?
Springheel on 2/6/2004 at 16:09
No, the numbers are multipliers, so the higher the tougher. If you look, easy has modifiers less than 1 (generally) and very difficult has values around 1.3. I've pumped mine up to 1.5 or 1.6, and I have noticed a difference.

there are some ragdoll and gravity tweaks possible from the default.ini... has anyone tried messing with them??
An interesting question from another thread. Has anyone else found these? I don't find the ragdoll a horrible problem, but if there were an easy way to make it more realistic, I'd be game.

Why not replace the loot glint with the much superior and more subtle "important item" sheen?
And another thing, loading fog...could the color be changed to grey or black?

I've been through most of this forum and the Tweak Guide both, but I haven't seen anyone mention the "hood" effect. It may be called something else - I've seen references to a motion blur, but the tweak for that doesn't seem to affect my game.
When I play, there is an annoying "hood" effect that usually shows up as a bright blue triangle in the top left corner. If I look up too fast, I see what looks like the top of a hood, but then it disappears. If I look to the right fast enough, I see the triangle on that side.
I realize this is probably supposed to simulate the fact that Garrett's wearing a hood, but it's really annoying.
I'm using an ATI Radeon 9600 128MB if that helps.
Any ideas?
