The title says it all, I installed thief 3 and I can't manage to make it run on Windows 8, I read somewhere in this forum when I was searching a fix for this issue something about using the editor's main executable, with no success, and running the game with a single core through the FLIPtib utility (this is basically used to solve the intro sequence looping problem, which isn't the real deal here since I can't even manage to run the game) and ultimately installing the sneaky upgrade, the thing is that I can't install it since it doesn't detect the game as having been installed in my system, probably due to some required administrator privileges that I noticed when I tried to access to the game's folder for the first time, so obviously I tried removing privileges from other sources but strangely I am still experience the same issue, which I believe is the reason why the game is not running.
Any idea on what I should do to solve this ?

As I said, I can't install it since it doesn't detect thief 3 having been installed. Please, next time at least make the effort of reading my post .

No need to be rude. I did read your post but didn't fully understand. I don't have T3 installed and haven't used the Sneaky Upgrade so don't know how it works. It might have worked like Tafferpatcher or TFix and install the game for you if needed.
No doubt someone with T3 knowledge will reply in due course.

Browse your installation CD and then right click the installer and set it to Windows XP compatibility mode.
Then try installing and then patch with Sneaky Upgrade.

I'll try this and see if it works this time.

Sorry, but I don't recall being rude, I've only said to not reply if it is to make an unnecessary input because you didn't make the effort of reading my post, because I clearly stated the following:
"and ultimately installing the sneaky upgrade, the thing is that I can't install it since it doesn't detect the game as having been installed in my system"
I didn't mean anything bad, really.

Try walking up to your boss and say "please, next time at least make the effort of reading my report" and see how he/she reacts.
Don't play dumb, we know better. nickie has seen her share of rude posters.

Yeah, new members who sass the moderators might want to exercise a bit more restraint.

I expect we can move on now. I shall put installing TDS and Sneaky Upgrade on my to-do list.
