I finally have the Editor working, took me a while to get it working. I used dracflamloc his installer and it work great. And look at David his post.
Can use the Editor and start the Game when ever I want with 2 clicks...nice work dracflamloc
In case someone still has a problem with it.
1 - Install the game Thief Deadly Shadows - I name it what they told Thief3.
2 - Install the patch to Thief Deadly Shadows.
3 - Copy the whole Content from your Thief Deadly Shadows. And make a new map...Thief3 Edit, and copy it in to that map.
4 - Copy all stuff from the Editor zip file in you Thief3 Edit folder.
5 - Use Dracflamloc his Installer, then you see t2 paths on the installer use the same name you installed those both game. Like my was...G:\Games\Thief3 Edit and G:\Games\Thief3. Past that in to Dracflamloc his installer.
6 - Then Rename T3MainOptVersion.exe to T3Main. Wich you can find in your system folder...mine was G:\Games\Thief3 Edit\System
8 - Open the file user.ini in the root of the Thief3 Edit directory and add a semi-colon to the start of the line LoadFromResourceBlockFiles=True.
At the bottom of this file, add the following:
[Conversations]
SchemaChangesAllowed=true
7 - And then it must work.
8 - You still can delete some stuff in Content, that David was mention. I haven`t done that at the moment, cause I was missing files when I wanted to start the editor.
9 - Hope I didnt miss any thing.
Code:
DracFlamloc:
Okay if you're using my launcher all you need to do is this:
1. Install Thief3
1a. Patch Thief3
2. Copy->Paste the Thief3 directory into a new directory somewhere called "Thief3Edit" or something along those lines.
3. Extract the editor.zip into the new Thief3Edit directory.
4. Rename T3MainOptVersion.exe to T3Main.exe
5. Start Thief3Launcher and type in the appropriate locations of Thief3 and Thief3Edit
6. Enjoy.
I didn't have to patch mine to make it work but you should anyway.

Here is the beginning of my new KomagTutT3:
-------------------------------------
KomagTutT3 – Komag Tutorial for Thief 3 Editor, by Ben Ramsey
current version – pre01 (Feb26) (WORK IN PROGRESS)
How to use the editor for Thief 3 (Thief: Deadly Shadows)
How to make a Thief 3 Fan Mission - Beginning to End!
Files and things you’ll need:
- Your Thief 3 installation discs
- The “thief3editorrelease_jan2005.zip” editor release file (download at the Keep)
- The “thief3launcher.zip” file (download at the Keep)
- Lots of time and patience and desire to learn and not be afraid!
I. SETTING UP THE EDITOR
1. Uninstall any extras or mods you have for Thief 3 (especially including John P.’s textures), using the “Add or Remove Programs” menu in your Windows “Control Panel”.
2. Remember to delete the Thief 3 folder from your My Documents folder
3. Remember to delete the old Thief 3 installation directory as well (some files may have been left over from the uninstall. Now you should have a completely clean slate!
4. Install Thief 3 and when prompted for the install directory change the name to “Thief3” (rather than “Thief – Deadly Shadows”)
5. Find your main Thief 3 installation directory (called “Thief3”) on your computer, right click on the directory title, and select “Copy”
6. Right click elsewhere (on a blank area of the main directory that “Thief3” is in, or in a completely separate directory on any drive letter you want) and select “Paste”. It should say “Copy of Thief3” if you are in the same root directory, or just “Thief3” if you chose to copy it to a different place. It will immediately start to copy a TON of files that will take a few minutes. You will need a lot of hard drive space to do this, so be sure it’s available beforehand. So, to be clear, you will end up with two separate copies of your entire Thief 3 installation, separate from each other, and they may or may not be in the same root directory (such as “D:\Games\Thief3” and “D:\Games\Copy of Thief3”, or “D:\Games\Thief 3” and “F:\Coolfiles\Thief 3”)
7. If you used the same directory and your new folder is called “Copy of Thief3”, rename it to something like “Thief3Edit” (doesn’t have to be that exactly). If you used a separate location and your new folder is called “Thief 3”, also rename it to something like “Thief3Edit”.
8. To save hard drive space, you can now delete some stuff in “Thief3Edit” which is only used for playing the game, because you will still have the complete installation in the “Thief3” folder for when you want to just play.
- Thief3Edit/Content/T3/VideoTextures (delete the whole folder, will save 650meg)
- (Thief3Edit/Content/T3/Maps (delete the whole folder, will save 891meg))
- (Some word that people want to KEEP the Maps folder, make use of those IBTs and GMPs)
- (Maybe just delete the ibt’s, keep the gmp’s, seems the gmp’s are what’s useful for editing)
9. Now, finally, unzip “thief3editorrelease_jan2005.zip” directly into your new “Thief3Edit” folder. One easy way to do it is to double-click the zip file so that it opens WinZip, then click the menu button “Extract” and select your “Thief3Edit” folder in the directory tree so that the path says something like “D:\Games\Thief3Edit”. You may also be able to right-click and hold the zip file, and drag and drop it onto your “Thief3Edit” folder, and then select “Unzip here”. In any case, make sure you don’t unzip it to a subfolder within that folder. If you do it correctly, the files that were in the zip file in System and Content will go right into those folders within the “Thief3Edit” folder. Only 4 files will be overwritten (let them):
- Default.ini
- T3.exe
- Ion Launcher.exe
- Content\T3\Books\English\String_Tags\Quotes.sch
What this whole step did is give you all the various types of content that you can now access and work with in the editor. All the textures, models, animations, objects, etc, were not available before because they were hidden away in the mission files themselves! Now they are open and accessible. They constitute the bulk of the downloaded editor zip file.
10. Go to your “Thief3Edit/System” folder and delete the file “T3Main.exe”
11. Find the file “T3MainOptVersion.exe” and rename it to “T3Main.exe”
12. Go to your main “Thief3Edit” folder and open the file “user.ini” (use Notepad, and it’s a good idea to have Notepad always open ini files as they are usually text settings files). Find the line “LoadFromResourceBlockFiles=True.” and add a semi-colon to the start of the line so that is now says “;LoadFromResourceBlockFiles=True.” At the bottom add two new lines:
[Conversations]
SchemaChangesAllowed=true
Save the user.ini file and close it.
13. Now you can go back and reinstall any little mods or extras to the normal Thief 3 installation (“Thief3” folder), such as textures or gameplay tweaks.
14. Before you go on to the last steps of getting set up, be sure that your monitor desktop color depth is set to 32 and not 16, as the Thief 3 Editor requires 32bit color and won’t work without it (it will crash with cryptic error message).
15. Some internet firewalls and anti-virus software may interfere with going into game mode from the editor, so you might want to turn them off, or at least just be aware of it so that if you get hang-ups later on you’ll have one more thing to try to fix it.
16. You’ll also want to save anything you have open at this point, as you never know if you might have to reboot your whole PC!
17. In the “thief3launcher.zip” file, unzip the Thief3Launcher.exe file anywhere you want (such as your desktop or your main games folder or whatever). Run Thief3Launcher.exe – you will see a small window that has on the left side “Editor Path:” and on the right side “Main Path:”, under which are two places to put in the correct path (the default guess is probably not right for your setup). Type in the correct paths for those two folders (such as “D:\Games\Thief3Edit” and “D:\Games\Thief3”). Now you can close the Thief3Launcher window if you’re too scared to go on, or you can click the “Editor” button on the bottom left side to launch the Thief 3 Editor!
18. Now comes the really scary part, the actual editor! Try opening “Castle1.unr” in the Content/T3/Maps folder. Immediately save it as “sillytest.unr” or “mynewtest.unr” or whatever. Then test it by clicking on the little joystick in the top right side of the main toolbar. If all goes well, this will load up the game and you’ll be at the start of the first “real” mission in the game. Odds are good, however, that it won’t work right and you’ll have some problem or two to fix before things start going your way!
when going to game mode from the editor, mine would always hand up on the loading screen, but the cursor would appear in a section of the screen. Turns out it was my McAfee virus scan or firewall blocking something. I managed to select SOMETHING, and it went to desktop with a browser open to some website, and I could select Thief from the minimized programs and it worked after that. Later I disabled both the virus scan and firewall, and going to game mode worked fine after that.
But no sound sucks! Doing a command line shortcut works good (no editor, just game, with sound), such as: Target: E:\Thief3Edit\System\T3.exe autoplay
or: Target: E:\Thief3Edit\System\T3.exe castle1
It’s a command line to that calls the specific gmp map, so it has to have been saved as a gmp! You do this by selecting “export .gmp file”
------------------------------------------
it's a work in progress, hope it helps :)

Yea those are great. I know nothing about video editing/creation and nothing about UnrealEd either to be honest, I'm just a humble programmer =P
Hopefuly someone with the knowledge will do something similar however.

New version. 2.0 GL
In this version: Added a special launch mode to allow better integration with GarretLoader.
Details in first post.
potterr on 30/9/2005 at 07:48
Basically to use this version with GarrettLoader, you will need to do this:
1) Start the T3 Launcher normally and launch both your T3 Game and T3 Editor to set its ini file up.
2) in GarrettLoader click the TOOLS button on the left. Then click the green + button.
3) find the t3launcher.exe and click OPEN.
4) in the window that then appears, give it a name, some info (tooltip stuff that will appear in the next version of GL) and in the TOOL CMD put /reset
5) Do NOT tick the "COPY THIS EXE TO GARRETTLOADERS TOOLS FOLDER" otherwise the ini file will be lost.
6) in the drop down list select THIEF 3 -DS
7) DO NOT Tick the WAIT FOR PROGRAM TO END BEFORE LOADING SELECTED GAME
8) finally give it an icon (anyone will do) and click ok.
From now on when you click a T3 FM to play via the PLAY button in GL it will launch the T3 Launcher in the background which will reset your registry back to your Play install, close itself and GL will then launch your T3 game.
Just so you are aware, the reason for this is that your T3 game and editor installs use the same registry entrys, this means that playing your T3 game install with your T3 Editor registry settings may do some weird things in game (and vice versa). By using this process you do not need to edit the registry yourself to play an FM or use the launcher to launch your T3 game (especially if you have installed via GarrettLoader already).

Is the GameSysModder registry value supposed to look like this?
GameSysModder REG_SZ G:\T3Ed\\System\T3Gamesys.t3u
There's two back slashes after the root directory.
dracflamloc on 1/10/2005 at 21:49
Yea that doesn't matter. You should be fine.
Though at the time I wrote this I don't think anybody had modified thier gamesys. If you could test it and verify it works that'd be good. I am pretty sure windows file operations handles double \\ same as \
doctormidnight on 1/10/2005 at 22:56
Any time I launch the new version of T3Launcher it opens a blank little window and just sits there doing nothing. Has anyone else had this problem?
Edit: Nevermind, I made a shortcut that was going to the old one, which I deleted. Durrr.
dracflamloc on 7/11/2006 at 14:50
New version 2.01, fixes a small bug which didn't affect gameplay or anything but made the ibt_patcher not function correctly for mods like JohnP's textures.
By the way, does anyone want any more features or anything added to this program?
