hello
I really like the way keepers compound is built. But, due to games structure, i cannot really stay and observe as i see fit. I really would like to walk around in the compound with out playing the game. Is there a way i can avoid guards from seeing me (not in game fashion but some sort of hack or cheat)
It would sound kinda absurd but i find the general idea of keepers inspiring as well as their compund to be very unique. There fore i would like to enjoy this part of the game with out being distracted.
Another thing i would like to ask is, to create a mod that makes this compound kinda real. Meaning, those shelfs and books and the way you can access them. I would like a mod that will make us keepers, and allow us to go and write some stuff on those books. And depending on our rank, we will get to see another part of the library where we can study and write better stuff
Kind of a interactive library.
Let me know what you think (ps, im not very good with 3d related stuff, but i can say im capable user of graphic programs and maybe, can give out texture for any one participating)
Thank you

Well, for exploring it (without sound, though) you can simply install T3Ed (which is however not really simple, but Komag has written a nice tutorial therefore), load the map and start it via the little joystick icon. Then you can press G and fly through everything, even into space.
About designing... well, since even the DromEdders are too busy to build things for someone else, you'd have to start mapping yourself. It might take a little long (some time for the tutorial, longer time for the actual map), but I guess a mystical Keeper map would be possible with T3Ed. I liked the TDS Keeper Compound myself, too. :)

With T3Ed, open the Compound's map, select all the Keepers (evenctually you can make the operation below also selecting just groups of them, then repeating this step for all the keepers, selecting three keepers per time is easier than selecting 40 in one time), right click of the mouse on one of them, select Properties, in the windows opened scroll the list down till you come to the last Properties, right click on it, in the menu that now is opened double click on "AIPawn", on the submenu, select "AIFactionModels" or something similar, in the list of models, select "PrivateGuard" being aware to now select the Hostile options, click OK, exit, Launch the map as written in Komag tutorial. There we go :thumb:

I'm worried to say you that's impossible. Thief 3 doesn't allow any interactive writing, at less at this point of common knowledge between us editors. This is a big lack in the game, unfortunately.
The more you use this editor, the more you are deluded for discovering its limits.

If T3Editor is
so much limited for you, I wonder what a hell are you still using it,
massimilianogoi?
And I think the illusion of "interactive writing" could be created. Very cleaver objectives and really tricky scripts could make this idea real.
Anyway,
Gardi,
just use your talents in arts or texturing or whatever. I'm sure all the community will be glad to have a new artist (FM-creator etc.) among us!

Hey, calm down! If the editor are disappointing, this didn't mean that the game are too!! In facts, Thief 3 is the best game I played, that's why I started developing for it.

Impossibile. This should mean that the game would have the property of writing on the .sch files, that's impossible I guess.

Well, of course you cannot write and read your own books, but as Tiens hinted it might be possible to create a mission with a lot of Keeperish and librarian objectives and the like. And I even think it could be quite interesting and provide a kind of good old scholar feeling, but at the moment everyone will already be busy. :erg:

I'm finding this to be very true. :nono: I felt a bit more free with Dromie, but T3ed crashes less - so it's a toss up. I think that is a neat idea about interactive writing and I would think it could be done with some finagling, but not in the way you are talking. It would be similar to the book in that apartment by Garrett's building. The one that updates after the first time you rob it with "I think someone has been in here" or something. So, it would be like an objective to add something specific to a book and then accessing the book, completing the objective, and then seeing what you were supposed to write in the book the next time you open it. That is the only way I can see it being even somewhat feasible, but I'm new to the TDS editor. :erg:

It crashes less??????? :laff: :laff: Wait, friend, wait... :ebil:
Now that you're talking about Garret book, you've brought to my mind that in South Quarter and somewhere else there are the dead-robbed report sheets hanging on the streets wall... Maybe experimenting with those relative scripts...

Tiens, I wouldn't worry about massimo that much. Even if he's able to achieve something, his low communication skills would make it impossible to share his possible findings. And, it is a problem for him to understand the scope of what has already been discovered, so he is likely to repeat what has already been done. Thus, his opinion on T3Ed-related problems is mostly irrelevant :)
I believe the interactive writing (or at least the illusion of such) is possible. We both know that one can do amazing things with scripts, and AFAIK you have the skills to pull off almost anything you want :)
