Ok, then try the following settings in the catalyst control panel as this wont effrct the driver or your laptop -
AntiAliasing = 0
Anisotropic = 2/4
Catalyst Ai = off
Mipmap level - performance
Vertical refresh = forced
AntiAliasingMode = performance
What I meant to say was, I changed those settings with my control center and tested it. Then rolled my driver back and used those settings and tested it and it did not work.

@biker: your link is missing a slash. Still, the most likely fix won't be found there. It most probably is a k-lite configuration thing.
The problem your getting is to do with the "indeo 5 codec" not klite(which dosent have the indeo 4 and 5 codecs in the pack any more, it only has indeo 2 & 3)
Just go to the red FAQ in the legacy support section and look for " regsvr32 ir50_32.dll " and youll find the download link(for the complete indeo codec pack) and instructions.

The codec needed for T2X is the VP3 codec, which is part of the k-lite codec pack.
Sadly the k-lite version causes errors when called by thief2.exe, those errors can be avoided by changing the k-lite configuration (via ffdshow).

Most likely bigshaun has already fixed the issue since (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130092) he has since been requesting T2X walkthrough videos.

it could also be that you don't have ddfix.ini in your t2x folder, that was what happened to me.
But yeah, I just got an ATI Radeon HD 4650 recently, and thief lags a little depending on where I am. (Note: only really noticed lots of lag in A Thief's Holiday, but even on my old 6800 this level lagged. I think it was more the engine than the graphics card come to think of it.)

ddfix.ini is in the folder. I'll just play through the lag.
Thanks for all the replies and help. :)

In the process of fixing fog I noticed these two entries in ddfix.ini:
Quote:
UseSysMemOverlay
OverlayColourKey
Setting both of these to zero made a noticable improvemant in frame rate for me (in Saturnine's Rose Cottage, for example). Give it a try and see.
[ DDFix ships with UseSysMemOverlay set to 2 which I think may be a performance hit. I may ship the next test version of DDFix with this set to zero or at least a note in the readme. ;) ]
