First of all, sorry if this is the wrong forum, but this seemed like the right one.
I'm having issues getting Shadows of the Metal Age running properly. In installed it, along with the codec for the cutscenes, and fired it up. It started fine, so I started a new game and the opening cutscene played fine, but the game crashed when I tried to start the first mission. I did some googling and found the crash was a common issue, the fix being to copy the ddfix file into the t2x folder. After that the game ran fine, EXCEPT the cutscenes no longer played. I did some googling and found that the common solution is to edit the movie_path in the Darkinst file so that it points to the correct folder with the movie files. Unfortunately it appears that the file already contains the correct path. I suspect it's a different issue because the cutscenes ran fine to begin with, only "breaking" when I copied over the ddfix file. Just in case I've copied the contents of my Darkinst file (note that I've installed the game in a different location from default for the GoG version).

movie_path C:\GOG Games\Thief 2\t2x\movies+C:\GOG Games\Thief 2\MOVIES

In case any of it matters, I'm running Windows 7 on a Bootcamped 2011 Macbook Pro with an Intel chipset. I also have Darkloader installed but not Newdark (I don't like the way it makes the game look).
Thanks.

first, patch up with the latest (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131106) TafferPatcher, then go (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134733) here and see the very bottom of the very first post to see how to install it, and how to install T2x as well. optionally, apply the T2xFix as per instructions (better lighting and some other stuff). that should get it working properly.
//actually, let me paste the instructions here as well;
the recommended way of installing and running T2x:
-install T2
-patch up with latest (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131106) TafferPatcher, let it create the T2 FM shortcut
-install T2x
-run the T2 FM shortcut, and let it create the FMs folder, exit
-move the T2x folder to the FMs folder
-extract (
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7quQTgSRc9KVGptRmpzM0FoYnM/edit?usp=sharing) T2xfix to the T2x folder, overwrite
-run the T2 FM shortcut, double click T2x
