Hi everybody. I've got a serious technical problem with thief 2 and my pc. I opened a new thread because I haven't found a solution on the thread about all technical problems. The problem is that when I start thief 2 I can watch with no problem the introductory clip, then when I get to the main menu, after only 1 second the game quits unexpectedly to the desktop with an error message. I have an Intel Core Duo 2.34 with 4 GB of RAM, Windows XP, and nVidia GeForce NX8600 GTS. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks in advance.
P.S. I think I tried everything that was possible from the technical problems thread. I used the normal patch, the premier patch, the single core permanent fix etc etc. Thank you again.

Ok I'll translate from italian the error message:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There was an error during the execution of Thief 2: The Metal Age, and the application will be closed.
Some of the data you were working on could have been lost.
Windows xp has created signal of error that can be sent to Microsoft.
Do you want to send this signal?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope the traslation is good enough to understand, sorry if it is not. That's the tipical signal of error of windows xp. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks.
About the DDFix,I tried so many things that I don't remeber if I used it. To be honest at the moment I don't neither remember what it is. I'll do some research. Thank you.

Ok I tried the DDFix but I have a problem. I downloaded the Gui version, I followed the instruction, but at the moment of launching the DDFixGui.exe file I got the message: "The application has not been correctly initialized (0xc0000135). Click on OK for closing the application". Any suggestion? Thanks.

Perhaps u didn't hex-edit thief2.exe properly. Also update your graphic card driver & then check. Hope it solves your problem.

I am having the exact same problem with my 8800GTS card. Also with the prepatched .exe it says I don't have directx 7 or higher installed so it doesn't work. I have given up and I am just sticking to my laptop to build/play missions.

Ok, if people send me their T2.exe's I will patch them with the latest version of ddfix.

Thank you very much bikerdude, now the game works perfectly. I had to install also the widescreen mod. I only get problems when I try to turn the sound hardware acceleration on, but nevermind, just few hours ago I was scared to say farewell to my favourite game of all times. Thank you again bikerdude, you're great man.
