Thief 2. Suddenly no sound in the game. PLZ HELP! - by Nicholasspb

Hi, Taffers!
Been playing thief FMs from time to time for the last 10+years. Last week I got technical issue, which i couldn't resolve by myself.:(
As I was saying... I was finishing L'Arsene campaign the other night, playing in SteelSeries Earphones for the last 3+years, which i almost always use in Hi-Res mode (really cool by the way, 96 khz, 24-bit sound.). Suddenly the sound just cut off...
My earphones have 3 modes: PC, PS4 and Hi-res. Tried to activate PC mode, but sound quality is awful and now does not work in T2 half of the time. Mind you, my MSI laptop loudspeakers in T2 stopped working as well. Checked TG, if it was affected by the same bug. Nope, TG works as usual, perfect in Hi-Res mode, worse with loudspeakers, but T2 for some reason won't budge either way.
My audio Configuration in-game was and still is: 48 audio channels, hardware acceleration on, eax off. Earphones settings included loudness equalization on, dts headphones on. The same settings still work for TG.
I looked for different solutions: restarting the game and laptop, deleting and reinstalling the game, updating my Nvidia drivers, steelseries drivers, installing the newest version of T2fix (1.27e) - the outcome is still the same.
Maybe somebody can help me with this:) What am i missing? Some internal audio driver problem, perhaps? I am really hoping there is some resolve, cause I still have more than 200 T2 missions to finish (and looking forward to see missions of NewDark contest this year as well)

In thief 2.txt found peculiar detail.
sfx_vol_music -474
In TG thief.txt
sfx_vol_music 0
I delete -474, replace it with 0, but it comes back again (-474)

I would try "Hardware acceleration=off" for sound in your case.
Other than that, I neither find "sfx_vol" nor "sfx vol" in any .txt file, just in CAM.CFG. Are you sure it's in thief 2.txt or TG thief.txt? Both files don't exist in my installations either.

Thx for the reply. Found the temporary solution couple of days ago: it's the steam folder bug. I changed 1 letter in the name of the folder (thief_2 for thief2) and ... voila!:cheeky: The sound has returned!

Info was from the log file, not txt, my bad.
