Ok, so in case any of you have EAX grayed out in the Audio menu, under Thief 1 Gold or Thief 2 (or System Shock 2). Then you need one of the following applications.
* C-Medias Xear3D
* Realteks 3D SoundBack
* Creatives ALchemy
I know that ALchemy worked for me when using Thief 2 and Xtreme Music.
I haven't tried RealTeks or C-Medias solutions, but they might work.
If your under XP then try my previous solution :) (

I tried Alchemy on Vista. It turned all game sounds into a bloody mess, my ears were almost damaged. So no luck for me. However, no EAX isn't THAT much of a loss, unlike fog.

What settings do you use in Alchemy for Thief 2?
There is actually a difference on how it sounds on game mode and audio creation mode...
(I have a X-fi Xtrememusic btw)

I have been using the standard settings in Alchemy, but a google wouldn't hurt..

I'm trying to use 3D soundback, but to no avail. Anyone know how to manually turn on eax settings in thief 2 (from the config files), in case the game isn't just realizing the emulators presence or something?

You might be able to but it wouldn't work. It would just turn it back off.
