Lostcitizen, yours isn't working yet? Do you have the first version of Thief 2? Try googling for the version like mine.... the one that says it is specifically for XP, and then try Tafferpatcher. I hope you get it to work.
Is there anything that will make Thief Gold work? I had the same problem with that one, although I didn't try Tafferpatcher with it. I am not sure, but I think I read somewhere that Tafferpatcher is for Thief 2.

Voodoo, thank you. For my own future reference, what is FSAA, and how do I check? Do you know offhand?
BTW, that ddfix 1.5.5 confused me when I used Tafferpatcher. Shouldn't that one be the latest one? It's number is higher. Thanks for the help.

(
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134733) This is the patcher for Thief Gold. Maybe I was lucky but I recently installed a Premier Edition TG on Win7 with nothing needed except for setting affinity.

Yes, that patch is the correct one for both Thief 1 and Thief Gold (it auto-detects which game you're patching and installs the relevant files). In theory you shouldn't even need to set the CPU affinity and on Windows 7 it enables the only compatibility setting needed (administrator mode) for the game.

Thanks, nickie and AI_B. I can't wait to try it. But here we go again. My wife will never see me. LOL! Anyway, I appreciate your help.

WOW! You people are great! I just played part of the 1st mission in T gold, and it works perfectly! I can even see water. (I read somewhere in another thread that someone couldn't). Thank you. My wife will probably divorce me now. Can I come and stay with some of you? We could rotate. LOL. Thanks a lot.

:) I wasn't being very clear, was I. I meant that I didn't use the patcher at all for my latest installation of TG. Which I found quite astonishing.
Glad you've got it working damdifyno. We are enormously lucky to have the talented people who make these patchers/patches/fixes/etc. etc. for us.

No, I actually meant mine (T2 Sold out, for Win 98) is working perfectly now since trying the described methods after a couple of attempts  (have not tried TG yet). I kept fingers crossed
for you to make it work and I am happy you solved it ;)
Happy (and quiet) taffing!

Damdifyno, I remember well that GL and DDfix don't like each other, at least on my W7. I uninstalled the former one and everything started to work smoothly. Try to get rid of GL and use DarkLoader ((
http://darkloader.net/)) instead - it's an old programme, but it's really stable and easy to use. Then both T2 and T2X will work. Of course, the same for FMs. I haven't tried applying DDfix to T1/TG yet, but it should also go like that. Hope that helps you.
