I downloaded it, but when it dont know how to extract it into my Dark Engine game's main folder and run DDFixGUI.exe.

I recently installed Win7 Home Premium 64-bit as a dual-boot with my old XP Pro 32-bit. My TG and T2 installs on a common non-system drive both open & run fine in W7 without reinstalling, but the text in the load screens and in-game readables looks blurry or dithered. Also the in-game text for weapons and inventory items, or the on-screen text when you read a plaque/etc, looks off in the same way. Otherwise the game environment (3D effects, objects, textures, colors, etc) appears as crisp & detailed as when run from XP, unless it's such a small difference that it only stands out with things like text.
System specs:
Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3, AMD Phenom II X4 940 ~3GHz, 4GB DDR2 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+, Auria 24" 1080p LCD/TV (using VGA interface), XP Pro 32-bit/Win7 HP 64-bit.
One strange thing...
Native resolution on the Auria is 1920x1080, which has always been recognized/available under XP with either the stock MS drivers from Windows Update or those direct from NVIDIA's site. But the drivers installed by Win7 for the 9800 GTX+ only offers 1600x1200 as the maximum available resolution, so they were effectively unusable. The latest NVIDIA v265 series drivers did the same thing, but the CP lets you create custom resolutions so I did that for 1920x1080 and it worked okay. Now I'm running the next-newest 260.99 NVIDIA drivers which do list 1920x1080 as a non-custom resolution, but which also claim that 2048x1536 is the 'recommended' resolution and 1024x768 is the 'native' resolution - as if it's a 4:3 monitor instead of 16:9! Maybe the problem has something to do with that, but I know Win7 has other differences like DirectX version and other changes that might affect the display of graphics. Other graphics like videos/photos/wallpaper/etc look just as good as on XP as far as I can tell, and The Dark Mod doesn't seem to exhibit this issue with text.
Any ideas on a fix for this? Both games run fine under Win7 with DDFix and Widescreen just as they do on XP, except for the noticeable difference in the text, but I want to get Thief looking just as good if I'm going to migrate to Win7!

Don't know what to tell you about the text issue. You might wanna try a different version of ddfix or fiddle with the ddfix.ini
@goozee05:
Do you have a program such as Winzip or 7-zip on your hard drive? If not, you can go (
http://www.7-zip.org/) download 7-zip, a free program that will unzip the contents of the ddfix zip file for you. You put the contents of the zip into your main thief 2 directory.

Dahenjo, some screenshots might help. Also, you might want to try UseSysMemOverlay=2.

Thanks jermi, "UseSysMemOverlay=2" was already in my DDfix.ini and I also tried "OverlayColourKey=0x0000" that can fix corrupted in-game text but it makes no difference.
Again, it's the same Thief2 install being run under each OS, and with all the same settings it's not looking right in Win7 but is fine in XP. Several different NVIDIA driver versions and monkeying with the Compatibility Tab settings for both TG and T2 executables hasn't helped. You can see it's not just the text, but the detail of the lamp and the gears in the background looks inferior too.
Any other thoughts out there? See my post above for system specs, etc.

And the default UseSysMemOverlay=0? Same result?

Yeah, no difference when I try '0'. It was set to '2' so I'm not sure what the default is, but i never changed it before today. I've used TafferPatcher on this install but see the same value (2) in an older T2 install I'm not using from before TafferPatcher, so it must be the usual setting at least on my rig.
Edit - Did a fresh T2 reinstall in Win7 to experiment with this problem, and found that the graphical fuzziness/distortion only happens after installing DDfix. With the original executable simply patched to v1.18, text and other screen elements appear just as clean/crisp as in XP. So it's something DDFix does that causes this effect in Win7 but not in XP, because my main T2 install with DDfix and the widescreen patch looks fine run in XP but distorted under Win7.
Here's my (
