Recently, I wiped my hard drive clean and re-installed Windows Vista Home and Thief 2. Just as a service to keep record of how to successfully run Thief 2 even 2011, here's my procedure and thankfully its simple!:
System:
2006 iMac running Boot Camp
2.4GHz Intel Core2Duo
3 GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT
-------------------
All system and driver updates are current to the day and UAC is turned off
Files needed:
- DDFix 1.5.11
- DDFix Thief 2.exe file
- DromEd Toolkit 1.0 (if you want to use DromEd)
1) Insert installation disc and install Thief 2 by: Start > Search/Run > D:\setup -lgntforce
2) Install Thief 2 to: C:\Games\Thief2
3) Run Thief 2 (no compatibility modes, no Admin run, game and movies should play fine)
4) Unzip contents from "DDFix-Thief2.zip" and "ddfix_1.5.11.zip" into Thief 2 directory
5) Open CAM.CFG and edit the following line:
game_screen_size XXX XXX
(X=whatever resolution you wish to use. I am able to use 1680x1050 with no problems)
6) Run Thief 2 (no issues)
-------------------
If you plan to use DromEd, continue on with these steps:
7) Copy CAM.CFG and place it somewhere not in the Thief 2 directory
8) Unzip contents in "DROMED.zip" (as found on Disc 1) into your Thief 2 directory and overwrite all files
9) Unzip contents in "2503_DromEdToolkit-1.0.zip" into Thief 2 directory and overwrite all files
10) Place the copy of the CAM.CFG back into the Thief 2 directory and overwrite the existing file
11) Run DromEd or Thief 2 with no issues
-------------------
You might need to tweak settings in the USER.CFG to get DromEd working to your liking, but it will run properly. I'll get around to doing the same for Thief 1, but right now I'm dying to play Thief 2. :cheeky:
