I didn't notice any patches and I don't feel like going through almsot a 1000 posts for this thing, plus I'm an exceptionally slow reader.
Anyway, Valet's thingy.I am told an objective was supposed to tick off when I either read the book in his room or listen to the three guys chat. Yeah, well, neither ticked off, so what the hell is going on?
I'm playing on normal.

You was told wrong. Objective appears after reading the book AND after hearing conversation, but you can go to catch valet after reading the book only (without getting an objective).
This objective never ticks off (off? What do you mean? Failed/Ignore?). It ticks ON after completing.

I am stuck near the beginning. I am in a cave with a small waterfall, more like a leak, really. I grabbed the rope arrow from the chest and I see a glowing mushroom up a steep cliff.
According to previous posts that I have read, I think this is the way to go - but I can't seem to mantle up to that area. Am I missing something obvious?

Ethne, you can't climb out of that cave (the "Green Grotto") so you must retrace your steps through the rocky passage and then look for a climabable vine to the SW and then a big rock blocking your path. There is also a tree on its side above you
a wooden tree ;) .
You can find some
small water arrows in the "Green Grotto" that it's worth picking up before you leave - you can talke them into the next mission if you don't use them before.

Haha, I love the ballerina shoes, they were really handy. I only wish they were downloadable so I can use them for other missions! Wouldn't that be handy? ;)

I read the posts about how to get the key out of the door in room #20 but I can't find the key at all. I'm playing on Largo (Expert).
I've also noticed that North on the compass, in game, doesn't match up with the map. I assume that the top of the map is North, but there I could be wrong. This makes it confusing when reading some posts as to what door or object is facing certain directions.

the top of the map should be North and it should match up with the compass pretty well?
But I don't remember there being a key in the door in Room 20 (valet's room) - on any difficulty - so I think you've been misled :erg: . There is a key in a door, that you need to "use" to go back downstairs,
and is viewable through some doors in room 18 don't know if this is the one you're after :idea:

I don't see the key at all in any door while in room #18.
Unfortunately I didn't hide a body well enough on a lower level so now I have to go back to an earlier save. Ugh!
