Fucking hell this mission is making me swear a lot!! I think I'll have to abandon it. The level of complexity makes playing a frustrating slog rather than fun. There is also little or no atmosphere which for me is an essential element of any thief mission. Maybe that will come later….
Having said that, clearly a lot of time and effort went into creating this campaign and I commend you highly for that. It’s just way too difficult for a dumbass like me. For anyone who decides to grind on with it, I envy your patience but mostly your volume of free time!
Good luck!

Can I just ask, why would anyone want fast playing, easy FMs that honestly lack depth and complexity? After reading all of the comments, I'm not understanding this notion of diminishing an FM into nothing more than a simplistic diversion from one's real-life; if an FM is too difficult, or too time consuming, then it's not worth playing and the author should be ashamed. Isn't that like deeming a film good only because it made a ton of money?
Shouldn't an FM be richly layered, perplexing, and time consuming for the most immersive experience?
If an FM is a breeze to go through and is nothing more than "a good time" to make one's day better, then the author did something wrong.

Well, there's perplexing, and then there's frustrating. This mission often leans towards the latter. Games are supposed to be fun and entertaining, and it gets to a point where you can only bang your head against the wall so long before the fun is gone.
On the topic of walkthroughs, I think part of the issue is that it takes some considerable time, especially for a mission as complicated as this, to write up a detailed walkthrough. I think a cool option might be, maybe even for someone who's already finished the level, to do a video walkthrough and post it on youtube.
I have a copy of fraps, I might try to whip one up for mission one, although I know that's not the mission most people are having the most trouble with.

Well, I do not feel like looking through 20-some pages to find an answer, so I will just post my question here and I'm sorry if it is a repeated question.
Anyway, I can't even seem to get to the 3rd floor. I have found some music pages, shoe polish, and ballet slippers. I got into the vents, fixed the dumbwaiter, and got the key from the boiling water tank. Now I am completely stumped. There are so many doors I cannot open. I'm sorry this description of where I am is so vague, but any attempt at help is very much appreciated :)
Oh, and I am on the Moderato difficulty setting.

Calm Down Q! I didn't say or imply that the author should be ashamed nor that the FM wasn't worth playing. I simply said it wasn't for me. I downloaded this FM, tried it, formed an honest opinion, and posted it on the relevant thread. What's the problem with that?
Sagittal on 19/4/2010 at 19:38
She-Thief, you've done all the hard work!
The key you got from the water tank will open the doors to the passage-way on the west side of the kitchen giving you access to the dumbwaiter - now fixed through your efforts - you can take it up to the third floor - negotiating the temporary interruption that occurs mid-ride - worth saving before you start the dumbwaiter.

@ Sagittal:
Okay, so I AM supposed to ride the dumbwaiter? I tried that, but then it stopped and I couldn't figure out how to get out :p
Thank you very much, by the way :)
EDIT: Ah, I just needed to work on my patience while on the dumbwaiter ;) Very cool! Haha.

Throwing all my current questions out at once since my gameplay has really stalled. Playing on moderato:
1. How do I get into the chapel (room 27)? Both doors are locked and no key that I currently have opens either of them.
2. There is a curtain with a door behind next to the large fireplace where the burned note was found in the bedroom (room 25). How does that open?
3. In the king's study (room 21) there is a amoire with a center door which is locked. Is there a key for that too?
4. What the heck exactly is the top tower key for and where specifically is it used? I'm carrying it around and havent been able to use it.
5. Up in the attic I can hear the voices down below me but nothing happens. Sounds like the band is tuning up but nothing else happens. Did I miss something?
