I.ve been stuck in this mission several times, but there was allways an answer to be found in the thread.. if people just start learning to use the "in thead" search function, they would allso find all the answers they need
Good to point that out nightshifter :thumb: - I keep forgetting to use the "Search Thread" facility, at the top of the page, but as long as you know roughly what you're after it can be a real help. However it is only available if you're logged in - plenty of FM fans out there who prefer/choose not to register or log in - and of course if you're really stuck you do need to ask.

I got into the dumbwaiter, got the rope arrow from Gabriel, climbed up it, entered every room available, read the note about the guy with the blue sash, and finally opened a door in room in same suite. When I did a guy with a gold helmet chopped me in little pieces before I could say "boo." Now what? Where do I go?
No conversation to overhear. Only way down I see is to fall down the dumbwaiter shaft. Two rope arrows aren't enough to get you to the bottom and it's impossible to use a third. No other doors can be opened. If I'm to find the valet where do I look?
(I do know how to use the search function but sometimes it doesn't always find what you need. And I do agree that this mission is overly tedious. None I've played come close. I usually needed a hint or two with some of the other big ones. Here, I need one about every 10 minutes. Such constant need for help destroys much of what could be some great immersion.)

Please, check Calendra's Legacy, Calendra's Cistern or Mission X threads f.e. Yeah, they are amongst the absolutely best FMs out there too. King's Story is too hard? I personally would prefer 2 times harder missions puzzle-wise.
Well I'm certainly glad missions aren't made just for you, then. Missions designed specifically for the extreme hardcore difficulty and OCD crowd (which you seem to be a part of - my 25 page thread random example was too broad and must have tripped your spidey sense, I knew someone would have to comment on it) suck all the gameplay fun out of missions and leave the other large section of us with nothing appealing other than skipping it altogether. Why you'd want to design a mission that won't hold something for everyone is beyond me. "Skip it," you say. I'll probably never re-play it, once is enough. And that's a shame because I wanted to like it. Four years is a long time for a creation, and I tried.
If I wanted to play a hardcore pure puzzle game I'd play a puzzle game. I'm not, I'm playing thief.

If mission authors want to make difficult missions, then they should do it, plain and simple. It's thinking like the above (appealing to the lowest common denominator) that got Deadly Shadows created. IMO, one of the greatest things about Thief FMs (or any fan-created level for that matter) is that they don't necessarily need to adhere to the needs of the masses. If you don't like a certain level, move on. There's plenty of missions at all difficulty levels to play.
I agree this level pack is way too hard - personally, I'm stuck in mission two and am shelving it for a while. But being in this community for the past 10 years, I can accept that without bitching up a storm. And expecting a walkthrough on day one after an author spent four years creating a mission is asinine.

Spending four years creating a mission that you know is extremely hard and admitting that you probably wouldn't play it yourself and then releasing it without a walkthrough and essentially telling people "good luck figuring out what the hell I had in mind at the time!" is asinine. I wasn't 'expecting' anything. I just figured if the author spent that much time on it he'd want a maximum number of people enjoying it and not just throwing up their hands and giving up. Not everyone enjoys having to consult a thread on the internet fifty times just to trudge through a mission during a gaming night. Those of you who love extremely hard missions seem to not give a damn about the rest of the playstyles anyway - so it is what it is.
Regardless, I'm done talking about this mission. All sizzle, no steak. Congrats to the hardcore, screw the rest of us I guess.

You can see (through glass door) the tower key jammed into the lock (3d floor). Shoot it with an arrow. Than the door can get opened.

I'm playing on moderato and I can't find the shoe polish. I've been in the shoe closet, and it isn't there. Anywhere else it could be?

Maybe it's not a bug.
On Moderato it's in the room 13. (Obj ID #1173)

Yes, you finished this egg-within-an-egg sequence.
