nightshifter, the help is possible. Send me your quicksave before mission failed, and I'll fix it by removing a problem body.

hoi zontik,
thank you for the offer, most kind but I've allready started again,.. twice the fun :cheeky:
and be sure that I hide the bodies better this time.. I will post some creative bodie- stacking-pics tonight :)
(did you know you can stack a complete kitchenstaff in an oven :cheeky:)
funny thing is that I encountered some new things, I missed the previous time... and it got me puzling (and stuck) again..:)
ofcourse I went up real quick ( i know the way..) but to my suprise I encountered the problem mentioned here (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131684&p=1979039&viewfull=1#post1979039) http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131684&p=1979039&viewfull=1#post1979039
but I did read the valet book... allso I rushed downstairs to "meet the guy" but he allso didn't show upis there something else triggering this.. ofcourse I didn't do the same search how to get up with the elevator.. ??
problem solved :D
obviously reading the note from the butler about valet was the other triggernicest thing about replaying is that, in the "crownconversation" , I now found out that I completly missed the hint about
the candle key the first time

A day! it has been a week every night and I am still stuck here !
SneakyJack on 18/4/2010 at 17:55
Why do you insist on continuing to tell people the answer to their frustration and being stuck is simply to "slow down?" This doesn't help, it has never helped and you are posting the same thing over and over again in the same thread. Oh, someone can't figure out what they need to do to enjoy the mission? Slow down! Don't know a code? Slow down! Can't find a key? Slow down! Is the mission crashing? Slow down! We all know that frustration is even better when its prolonged!
It's becoming more frustrating than the problems with the mission itself. If someone is completely stuck and ready to give up, why not give them a hint or answer to their problem and stop with the nonsense? Or don't post at all if you've got no help to offer?
Also - in the last few years we've had missions like Mirror of the Return, Broken Triad, Eclipsed, Wicked Relics, Disorientation, Hammerite Imperium, Rowena's Curse, Thief: The Flying Age, Pirates Ahoy, Mission X, Seven Sisters, Rose Cottage and more - all complicated huge missions and not one of them was even a fraction as frustrating as King's Story. So that part of your argument for 'slowing down' is silly as well.
As for your question YONTY - what is the last thing you did in the mission and what difficulty are you on? I can't remember where the moss arrows are but I'm sure someone will be able to help you with a little more info.

Now you're exaggerating. Most missions are indeed not as hard as King's Story (though there were some pretty nasty moments in Rose Cottage), but every mission contains some frustration. I guess it's all about attitude. While testing KS and not knowing how to proceed, when I got the answer I didn't immediately think that it was the author's fault, no, I was in most cases mad at myself because not thinking that good outside the box, while I knew I would have to. I felt like a good lesson to me. Best part was in 50% of the cases I found the solution myself. How? By slowing down, thinking what could be the way. While I agree that clearing has said enough slow down's, he has already given many hints, and you can see he's trying to help people instead of just ranting about how stupid they are.

I'm not exaggerating. I've never seen a hint thread so full of people saying they are giving up or that playing the mission just isn't worth the frustration - I don't know if Rebellion Of The Builder even lost this many people. Also, I've played TONS of missions that have gone the entire length of the gameplay time without frustrating me at any point. No one is ranting about anyone being stupid, so I have no idea where that came from. There have been more than enough "slow down" nonsense posts as it is. Someone spending a week on a mission doesn't want to hear 'slow down'. Once a hint thread reaches 25 pages of people needing help because they are hopelessly stuck you really have to wonder if the mission was over-complicated and fairly pretentious in the first place.

That's what I just said. And I'm really happy about that.

Zontik already said he likes to makes his missions that way. I agree there could be some more in-game hints though. But since now, almost everyone who asked for help in this thread has got an answer. And there have been way more spoilers here than 'slow down' posts. Come to think of it, they are like global warming warnings. People still should listen to those since it's important, but in the last 10 years we have seen them so much that we don't truly see their meaning, and only get annoyed by them.

I really don't understand this on-goning discussion about the mission being to hard..
sure, some parts are a bit hard and not that logical...
I.ve been stuck in this mission several times, but there was allways an answer to be found in the thread.. if people just start learning to use the "in thead" search function, they would allso find all the answers they need
the only thing clutheting up the thread are the long "it's too hard"wining parts...:p
and what is the point in pointing out that some things could have been better ..
the mission is like this, and if people get frustrated.. don't play it.. it is not like you have to earn your daily living with it...
but all this being said, I'm still having a lot of fun playing this mission ( again :) ) and it still amazes me that there are so may people that dedicate so much of their time giving us such beautifull missions

Please, check Calendra's Legacy, Calendra's Cistern or Mission X threads f.e. Yeah, they are amongst the absolutely best FMs out there too. King's Story is too hard? I personally would prefer 2 times harder missions puzzle-wise.

3. On the other side, you have two wrong sheet of notes... Thanks again Zontik.
Found an item ("wasn't expecting that..") and performed an obvious task that made things easier for me later on. Do the wrong sheets of notes have further value to me or can I now move on to finding those 13 secrets ;) ?
