If you are still not far from the beginning then you need to
head east to start with and make one easy jump as you go along but a bit further you come a dead tree and ahead is a V-shaped gully with two big rocks laying across. If that is where you are then you can mantle up the steep rock near the tree. Try right near the corner. I found a small angle I could get up.If that is not where you are then let us know what you see. Although the FM refers to 'keeping to the path' there is no visible path in the normal sense. Just keep from falling off!
The only way i can go from the start is straight ahead IS THAT EAST
I still am lost If I go straight ahead from the start after 2 jumps i come to a black dead tree I tried hitting the tree with the sword to make a bridge but i am getting no where. Am i at the right tree?

242, you have the syringe? ;)
Also, you found spices?

Here's my two pennies worth on the FM: Zontik has created a wonderful work of Art with Dromed. 4 years of love and attention to detail has gone into this and for that I was determined to finish it for him and me. The plot is excellent too. The problem is the gameplay, exacerbated in my opinion by the limitations of an old engine (Dromed). Zontik's imagination and ambition exceed the capability of Dromed. It is refreshing to see a new spin on getting hold of inventory items by hiding them in (usually) sort-of-logical places (e.g. water arrows in pot plants, taps etc), but it would have been good for your average thief player to have a prompt /warning to expect this in the preamble to the game - otherwise you spend the whole time on a massive frobfest giving you repetitive strain injury!.
For me, the game was very challenging and I could not have finished without the help of one or two of you on the forum. But even with this help, mission critical events did not happen for me. In particular a cutscene when you encounter the king, the doctor and the Aide in the study and also, when in the lift /elevator, the helping rope arrow did not appear. This kills the mission. A backup plan for mission critical events would be a good idea.
It is not essential to have a walkthrough if help can be got from the forum, but at some point I would like to return to the game and seek out all the secrets and Easter eggs, and this would require them to be listed somewhere.
I agree that telling people to slow down etc is not helpful. Often you are slow to a full stop for ages because you really have exhausted all possibilities. Then you admit defeat and seek help from the experts on the forum.
So, a real controversial masterpiece. Well done Zontik, but in your next epic, please bear a thought for the little people like me who love playing thief, but only if the goals are realistic. As you said, it is a game - but that means it should be enjoyable and fun to play and not drive you to the brink of Luwig II-like madness.
As my namesake said over 3,500 years ago - eat, drink, be merry, for you are not long in this life!
Slainte.

..... In all, abut 2 hours of play before it crashed. This repeats earlier experiences.
smithpd: I have had a small number of crashes out of mission 2 but no problems with my Norton 360security.
Cos the mission is so large with many effects and cut scenes I didn't think a lot of it - it didn't seem to spol the gameplay particularly - but I guess a memory leak sounds like it is the source. I haven't got a fast gaming machine (integrated graphics), intel 2.4GHz with 2GB memory.
Thanks for the alert and maybe others will post.

I got up the steep hill near the dead black tree at last. I come to a area with some small pools down below but how do i get down i went right just before getting here but i died i tried jumping to the left but no good there does not seem to be a safe way down to pools.
Dont tell me i have gone the wrong way after all that? Should i try to do a running jump and try to land in the pool down below?

bigshaun6767: Having trouble working out exactly where you are - but I wouldn't go for the jump!
The steep climb you talk about should have taken you past the ghost of the king - did you see him? From there you drop down and start to climb again , going south/east. If you do climb to the peak you see a pool in the far distance - but you want to take the path on the right half way up that climb - or that's what I did. You will then need to explore a bit.
The only tree you need to hit comes later afte a camvator sequence.

spices? Syringe - no, spice - yes
(if you mean 2 small sacks counted as a secret, or maybe only one is counted - in the chef's cubicle).

bigshaun6767: I was just about to post but you found the way. Good.
You are in the right place now. Don't need to jump down. If you are where I think then you need to keep looking around. Think you can climb or jump to another ledge. From there you can and no doubt try what you suggested earlier witht the tree. Far as I can recall there are no other leaps of faith or anything but simply looking around for gaps and places to climb etc. and generally bungling through. You'll get there in the end. Hard for me to describe since there are so many different twists and turns. No need for me to even use a spoiler here since it is so generic it could apply to anywhere along the route!
Keep going. It's worth it.

@smithpd: This may relate to what you are saying, I don't know.
I'm playing on an 'old' PC with an FX5900 card. At the start in the engineer's room wit the door closed I got 25 to 27fps. Quite smooth and reasonable for this machine. As I've progressed though this has worsened.
I reloaded an earlier save which by chance was also in the same room. Now it showed 10fps.
But now it is so bad that I just went back there to check and I'm only getting 5fps. Exiting and reloading is making no difference. I'll try to remember to check next time if my hard drive is thrashing. I've only got 2GB on this machine and some will already be in use of course. But the loss of performance has been so gradual I started to wonder if it was subjective and had always been this bad from the start hence why I checked back. I would have thought when virtual memory swapping kicked in that I would suddenly notice a big drop.
This reminds me of years ago in 1998 when I first played Bafford that sword fights slowed to a frame per half minute! Maybe I had 128MB of RAM then. When I increased it to 256MB then it was OK.

242, you found the egg on the table? Break the egg with sword or blackjack.
And yes, I means 2 small sacks.
