Just finished.
Simply put, this FM is on par with Calendra's Legacy, period.
Zontik just became a legendary FM maker on par with Purah, congrats :thumb:. Fully professional work, and one of the very best from relatively small number of professional quality FMs.
It's now in my top 5, and that says a lot because my top 5 stayed the same for years.
It's now CL, CC, KS, MX, and Broken Triad.
SO many things happen in this mission, so many details, technical and design achievements :wot: I'll probably list the things that impressed me, but later. And of course, it's VERY interesting/involving to play.
This is quite difficult FM (wasn't too difficult for me however), but people, you owe to try and solve it yourself, with as little outside help as possible. Don't be hasty, don't comply with your urge to ask for help ASAP if you stuck, don't try to finish it in one day, you'll be glad, take your time and play or rather experience it. It's epic, after all, FMs of such scope and quality appear only once in several years.
And now my stats:
Largo
9:30:19 (but I think no less than 20-25 hours in reality, as I tried various ways and approaches)
2790 / 3333 loot (erm.... I was meticulous, as least I thought so)
8/13 secrets
8 knockouts
Re-play will surely occur :)
PS: Don't forget to check the Credits video.
PPS: A fly in the ointment - there definitely is a memory leak in the 2nd mission. It loads slower and slower and uses HD more and more the longer you play. I had to exit the game and re-start it again quite often to return it to normal.

Grateful for any ideas on:
What does the
moving statue do in the Throne Hall – I thought it was part of the essential puzzle there but presumably not as on a second playthrogh I solved the essential puzzle before moving the statue?
The same purpose as the Zombie lady in Profane Acension. To give you a scare.

So, without the
slowfall potion from the 1st mission it's not possible to accomplish the '
help the wedding
to come off' objective, and it's destined to be failed?
Yes, you need the slowfall potion from the 1st mission. And you will be rewarded with cutscene and happy end. But this is Easter Egg only, not proper final for the mission!Quote:

Yes of course :thumb: :)

I have crashes during the first conversation in part 2. Anyone else with the same problem?
I have the same problem, and I've gone through 17 pages of this thread and yours is the only post that mentions it. Are we really the only two people having this issue?
To be specific, it's the conversation between the Doctor and at least two other men in the second floor of the South Wing, talking about the King putting off the wedding and how the Doctor is going to declare him insane. As soon as the conversation ends, my game crashes to the desktop. Is there some scripted event that's supposed to happen here? A video cutscene, maybe? Any clue as to why it constantly crashes right here would be helpful, since I won't be able to finish the mission otherwise.

I have not checked memory use, but I will in the future. It is clear to me that things get slightly worse with time but performance is not affected too much (Core 2 duo, 8800 GT). With me, after playing for a while (2-3 hours?) I get a freeze or crash, which is accompanied by extensive disk I/O. It sometimes requires a power-off shutdown. Other times I can restart from Windows. This has happened maybe 4-5 times.
Also, my anti-virus software is being turned off, but malware and virus scans show nothing. I cannot say that problem is related to this mission, but it started when I started playing the mission and coming to this forum to seek help.

Thanks bob_doe_nz. It did its job - I feel nervous around those statues even when they're not moving.

Exactly desired effect!
WhiteFantomYou don't need to hear this conversation.
Just don't come close to Doctor's door for a while.
There are no scripted events there, looks like very strange bug (no one complained before, and I can't find any reason for it), and I have a bad feeling about all your future playing... but this one can just be missed.

I saved before the conversation reloaded and I passed this spot without crashes. Only one crash when blackjacked a guest.
Before that I noticed that I had an .ini file (from the ddfix fox fix) with the game resolutions set wrong. In the .ini file there was a line something like "resolution must be above 800x600" and I had it changed to my desired resolution but the correct modification is to change the desired resolution in the line below that.
Hope this helps, I am not sitting on the computer with thief installed so i can't give any detailed info.
By the way exellent mission Zontik:thumb:

That's it - a memory leak. Only in my case I had to restart more often - like every half-hour I think (2Gb of RAM, WinXP 32 SP3). Obviously the performance isn't affected when all is loaded, but the more you play the longer it loads because of more and more intensive use of HD until it suddenly may crash just when you bring the menu screen, or objectives etc. Re-start cures the problem... until the next coma.

Do you think it can be related with that "WARNING: Memory allocation suspiciously high (125833280 bytes)!" note in Monolog?
(Though I could see this message in very early steps of building. And not in this certain FM only.)
