Fidcal,
you need a rope arrow... there's a way in, up there in a statue room parallel to the kitchen.Thanks. Yes, but I'm burnt out now searching the entire level for a single
arrow. I've been round room after room but it's a palace so most places don't seem suitable for finding one. But I'm looking anyway. Bedrooms, bathrooms, everywhere. But reached my limit; another broken player! This seems to be mission critical but I've not seen any clue.
This is my thinking:
Author is likely to place it near to point of use so focus in those rooms.
Author is likely to put it in a guards area so focus there.
Author is likely to put it outside so focus there.
Author is likely to put it in the most unlikely place, so focus there.
It might be in an area I've not managed to reach. But the only doors left will not lockpick.
There is one roof I could not manage
jumping from a balcony. Maybe?
Maybe there is a way into the guardpost since I expect that is the start point if you finished Level 1 that way. But I can't find a way in.
I got nothing left I'm afraid so will need a direct push. :erg: Thanks.

How this FM got through the testing phase is a mystery to me.
Well, I was one of the testers. And I admit, I needed some hints from the author. So what?
In my opinion the way thru most challenging FMs is a kind of teamwork which is made in all thief forums, isn't it nice how all players help each other? :thumb:
I really enjoyed to read the discussions of my own FMs, I guess it is exciting for every FM author how the communities work their way thru the mission, how they discover secrets, jokes or loot step by step ... :D

Fiidcal, I think you can find a rope arrow in
the Barracks Rm 14 - frob to the right of the window on the left as you enter - don't know if this will re-energise you or not

I think I am in the same spot. (I can see the castle in front of me) But there's no tree, just a sort of invisible wall that denies access to the top of the stone...........
Of course I wasn't in the right spot, lol! I'm so far impressed by this mission, The music and the landscape make me feel like I really am acting in a movie.......

Having a great time exploring but am stuck already!
Have climbed up the mountain
to the left after the waterfall (following the camvator sequence) but now faced with a
seemingly impossible jump to continue path NE. Jump is hindered by a tree that wont take a rope arrow. Am I on the right track or maybe I've missed something elsewhere ? Help anyone ? (Playing on Expert/Largo)
Edit: OK solution was at hand all the time!

I guess this goes to show you even a tester isnt as smart as the rest of us can be at times. Though it is very FRUSTRATING to know that this kind of level could start out with a diffuculty that isnt so easy to figure out.
I come on here looking for hints and clues for FMs when I get stuck, and here is a tester stating that the FM isnt so easy and HE needed help My confidence in FMs is so at a low point.
Dont get me wrong, I love playing FMs and have been playing them for many many years, asking for very little help mostly because everyone has played it and has gotten stuck at most of the times the same point, place or nearest to it at one time or another.
I feel almost like Unlikeable cat at this moment now. This FM is so so frustrating, even with a hint somewhere on here to go LEFT? Gee, I must be blind or stupid, really now.
I really enjoy playing FMs and will keep doing so, but when it gets to a point where even a better tester is so smug about is gets kind of sad to comment.
Even I am stuck and here I have been playing Thief since the first demo came out those many years ago.
Now I wont ask for help, since it has been pointed out even a tester went to the FM author for help. I will put it on the back burner and wait for others to come out.
Thanks Zappen, you have really brightened my day up, and for all those people who dont see the solutions as easily as you do.

Err, sometimes the diaglogues overlap each other, resulting in garbled speech and missed dialogues for me since I can't read the subtitles before they move on. Is there a script somewhere I can read instead? Especially the premier and king/doctor convos where they finish their lines in like 1/10th of a second, I can't really catch up on what they are saying >.<
On another note, how do you "push off" anger? The only way i was able to defeat him was through my still existing bug of which anger fails to fully become a werewolf and his human counterpart is still present along with the wolf, but no longer immune to my broadheads. Garrett still thinks its not time yet to down the werepotion when he's getting mauled by the beast T_T Funny how I die and garretts saying "its not time yet" hehe

Also,
the goblet which is on the railing of the water tower, top floor, is it a secret? I shot it with a broadhead and I thought it landed in the courtyard, but now cannot find it for the life of me. Yes, it's a secret;
unfortunately, it doesn't count until you've picked it up. You might want to reload an earlier savegame and try again; perhaps it'll land somewhere easier to spot.
Did you look in that little terrace-planter platform halfway up the wall?
I'd expected to find the goblet around the base of the tower, but mine landed on the opposite end of the map, by the steps leading to the upper courtyard.

Thanks Sagittal.
There are several over the fireplace in the Chamberlain's room, at least on Allegro...
