Is the door a solid metal door, if so read Mr. Periwinkle's scroll that is tucked under the door, the door is unpickable until after you read that scroll.
Or are you in the bedroom? is the door a glass panelled door, that door should be unlocked.
Or are you on the balcony, that also is a glass panelled door which this time is locked, but that one can be picked.

hmm, strange. Although I typed right 0721 for the code, the door still locked. A "reset" sound is all I hear. Is there any condition I have to fullfill before I type it?

I' am so annoyed, I'm sorry to say. After hours of playing this mission, while needing a lot of hints, I'm finally up in the belltower, but I can't make the jump to the tower where I need to be where the crystals are.
What am I doing wrong? I need a speedpotion urgently.

I managed the jump from the right spot. I climbed over the broken (eastern) fence on top of the bell tower, landing on some brown-coloured piece of architecture coming out of the tower wall. I think I jumped into the direction of the somewhat lower chimney where I could clearly see a ladder inside. Garrett hit the ladder and grabbed it. I could then simply climb down and proceed. No speed potion or other piece of equipment was necessary to make the jump. Neither did I need a running jump or some other special acrobatics.
