Hi, seeming simple problem here.
When running Thief 2, the entire game runs fine, except when I press ESC or the map, or read something ingame, when the game is switching to the map/menu/scroll, it flickers for about 3 seconds, before going to the menu/map/scroll.
It's not a huge problem but it's annoying the hell out of me and making me not want to read stuff or check the map, even saving the game is a pain.
I tried changing the game resolutions but all of them still had the same effect.
Any ideas?

I know what you mean! I was having the same problem but then I read about DDfix. Using this the books/scrolls and menu switching should all be at the same resolution, no flickering. It really made the difference for me. That and the Enhancement Pack which adds higher resolution objects.

Just tried that fix now, it fixed it... kinda. The switch from game to map is quicker (it takes like half a second) but now I have a flickering mouse icon. Not very distracting, I'll live with it. And the screen switches are much better but still not as good as Thief Gold (those are instant).
Thanks for the help, if anyone knows anything more about this flickering mouse, or how to improve the screen switches even more, I will be very thankful.

No probs :thumb: I also suffer from the flickering mouse and the quicker but would be better faster switching. BUMP :angel:

Whenever you enter a menu in
Thief 2, the game switches from whatever resolution was displayed before to 640x480. Same with the map. That is most likely the reason for the flickering.
If changing the game resolution to 640x480 (
without ddfix) does
not change anything, then you can only try to get around the problem with ddfix. I have not used ddfix much and can't tell you much about it, but I vaguely recall something odd about the in-game mouse cursor, although I don't remember anything that's so annoying.
