I am replaying Thief for the 1000xxxx time and now I stumpled on sth. curious:

In this room in the mission First City Bank and Trust from Thief 2 there´s always been a security camera right at this spot. Does anyone know why there´s none in my playthrough now?
The only thing I changed is that I´m not playing the german version of Thief 2 (which I usually do), but the english version.

I don't know why, but in that mission, there's a small chance for certain cameras to not be there. There's also another one above a set of stairs to the basement that can occasionally not be there, maybe others too, not sure. Maybe someone familiar with DromEd who's looked at the mission could say why, but I don't have any idea myself.

Was kind of curious about this, so I ducked under the hood in Dromed. It looks like there's a script that runs at the start of the mission (CameraKiller) that randomly destroys a certain amount of cameras (along with their associated turrets), depending on the difficulty level (Expert 1, Hard 3, Normal 6). There are a total of 9 cameras linked to this script, so any of them could be the ones that are removed.
Edit:
I noticed after looking a bit deeper, there are also scripts that run at the start for deleting a random number of Worker Bots, Bowmen, and Bank Guards (also dependent on difficulty).

Indeed, the camera over the basement stairs was there this time, but many times not there.
I've not noticed anything else missing. The bots and guards were all there as they are supposed too.
It's a bit weird. The camera missing in that room makes it alot easier, because ghosting through this room is difficult when it's there. Im always playing on expert, so the differences are there regardless of the difficulty setting.

Ah i see, thanks for checking! I assume on expert only 1 camera is removed, since all others were there.

Just confirming it's a feature, not a bug. On each difficulty level certain number of cameras is removed, but the exact cameras chosen is random.
(also, things that may work in conjunction with the camera, such as a turret)

Fun (almost useless) fact: If you're playing T2MP with more than 3 players on FCB&T this exact script somehow also affects the player inventory, and also destroys it, including the mission critical safety deposit box key. Very cool!

I've noticed the randomly disappearing watchers. I believe that the randomly disappearing guards can also affect pickpocket stats, as in, one run of the mission might have more or less available pickpockets (and therefore possibly loot?) than another.
Does anyone know if this randomised enemy removal happens in any other mission?
