After double clicking the Thief2 .exe, a few seconds, then "T2 has encountered a problem and will close". It's version 1.9.0.0. No specific error message.
Windows XP (SP2); Dell Inspiron 5100; Pentium 4 CPU 2.66 GHz; 384 MB Ram.
It's been working fine for years, as recently as at least Mission X's release (~Aug 15). I can't think of any changes made to anything since then, aside from deleting a number of FMs from the FM folder.
One note: the CD drive on this laptop got fubar'd at some point, so I can't re-install (Not that I know how off-hand; maybe install on a second computer and a USB memory chip?), although I still have the CDs of course.
Is there a way I can check each essential file to see if it's corrupted in any way?
Any usual suspect problems?
FAQ and thread search checked.

Hi Demagogue
I assume your running the vanilla version of T2..? and your laptop has an old skewl intel/ati gfx card..?
Can you load up darkloader/garretloader and reset the thief to "original" and see how it goes..?

I reinstalled Dromed (the Toolkit version) and that fixed it.
Apparently I inadvertently altered some essential file associated with Dromed, and reinstalling it did the trick.
I'm still not sure what happened, but I'm happy it's fixed now.

Apologies if it seems bad to bump this thread up. Both posters are regulars, and I didn't want to start a new thread.
I'm getting the same problem. I tried installing a DVD Sold Out Software version of Thief 2. Then I nuked that and tried the version that comes on two CDs and it didn't help. I haven't updated any drivers since my last working install of Thief 2. I don't think I've even played around with DromEd, so I'm not sure that that is where the problem is.
Intel T2300 @ 1.66GHz - 1.66GHz, 1.00GB RAM, GeForce Go 7400. I think I have Windows XP - SP3.
