I have installed Thief 2 in Windows Vista.
-Dual monitors
-Widescreen
-Dual core
-DX10
-GeForce 8600 GT
It crashes when booting the game. I have tried:
-skip_intro in cam.cfg
-Every compatibility mode
-The imagecfg to run in one core
-Uncommented safe_texture_manager in user.cfg
-UAC is off
-iv5play.exe doesn't properly run
And nothing helps.
Windows Media Player doesn't play the AVI files, so I assume that's related.
What else should I try?

Disable UAC and then install the indeo codecs from the CD

Ah, right. The AVIs don't play, so that must be it.
iv5play.exe is telling me I have newer versions of everything and that it won't install anything though.
[EDIT] I think I got the installer running, but it then said

With dual core, widescreen and Vista you'll want to install (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449) DDFix and the widescreen patch. DDFix should prevent your crash, although unless you can resolve the codec issue you won't have movies. Also, there's no known way to get fog in Vista. :(

Ran DDFix GUI, 1280x1024 resolution.
Ran DarkWidescreen.bat, 1440x900, 100 FOV
