I have been trying to get thief 2 to run on my computer for 2 weeks now. I tried running it on my modern-ish laptop which is equipped with windows vista and have followed all troubleshooting tips on this and many other sites but I could not get it to run without freezing randomly so i gave up on that
Now i borrowed a desktop from my parents that runs on windows XP, bought a RADEON HD 3650 AGP video card, and loaded the game onto the computer. I see the loading screen of garret standing over the city and after a few seconds the screen flickers like i've seen a thousand times right before the games main menu pops up but this time instead of the main menu it sends me automatically back to the desktop. No error message or any indication the game has experienced a problem.
I reloaded the game and turned the resolution down on my desktop but everything i try ends the same way as i described above. There's probably an easy fix to this. I need to play this game. I used to be so addicted to Thief I and II
