Hello; long time lurker but new poster here. So I recently got a new PC and I installed Thief 2 once again as well as the NewDark patch. Overall, it's running just as well as on my last PC, but I do have one issue; whenever I open or exit either a book or the ESC menu to save, load, etc. it takes a good 4-5 seconds of black screen until it actually shows the game/menu. I can still do things like attack, interact with objects, turn pages, and mouse over or click menu buttons, but just can't see any of it. I recall having this issue on my last PC and fixing it somehow, but I can't at all remember how I fixed it. Has anyone else had this rather annoying issue, and if so is there a fix or it?

run the game in windowed mode and see if that helps. it might be caused by the change in desktop resolution
to do so find:
; force_windowed
in your cam_ext.cfg
and remove the ;

It sounds like your video card is changing resolutions, which shouldn't be happening. Make sure the line with "single_display_mode" in cam_ext.cfg is uncommented.

It says I can't open cam_ext.cfg files

If you are using an AMD card, try maybe to change GPU scaling on or off. It's in radeon settings under "display".

Alright I did that; I was looking in the wrong place or something. But changing that still didn't fix it.

Alright, I messed with some more stuff and it seems to have improved now.
