I know that this problem will be very hard to fix or not possible to fix. All of the thief games run choppy. I have to turn every thing down just to get smooth gameplay. Its weird because I know its the processor. I have always had this video card (Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT) and I have never had the choppiness until I bought my duel core processor (AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+). I do turn off one of my processors to play the game. So I know its not because I have dual. I decided to gamble with them both on but there is not difference in speed. Moving in the game is not choppy just looking around with the mouse. Almost like a micro stuttering. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium. And Yes I tried running as admin and tried playing around with the compatibility. If anybody could please help it would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention that I already had the ddfix installed. Sorry. Any other ideas?

yes...
completely un-install thief, delete the folder, then re-install, applying patched etc. You may have to do the same with the gfx driver.

I tried both of those things and nothing changed. Thanks for all of your help so far. I have pretty much given up hope that the game(s) will ever work good again. On this computer at least. :(

Hmmm, Ok do as before but this time, after un-installing the nvidia drivers run "NFR - nasty file remover. This will remove all remnants of the older drivers, reboot then install the drivers again....

no change... The slow down only happens in graphically demanding areas. Like angle watch, (inside) the train on t2x, the train station on t2x, and life of the party (there's others too). Although I have been playing around with it lately and I notice if I turn all the setting down and run at the lowest resolution it does help it a bit.
thanks for your help so far by the way

This is odd. just to check something, could you uninstall ddfix and runn the game. But you`ll need to apply the dual core fix via another program, see below
