I've got the same problem as WarMasterXX. The otions res goes to 24370564321650849x1600, but in fact stays to 1600x1200 in-game. My LCD's native is 1680x1050.
You need to change the Resolution line in "option.ini" located in
C:\documents and settings\-your user name-\My Documents\Thief - Deadly Shadows\Saves\ to the following -
Resolution= -3

BUMP
Sorry but I want to play TDS on my new widescreen. I tried the FOV patch using the -1 resolution change in the ini.file and then selected 16:10 in the T£FOV patch. That set the ingame res to my monitor's native res of 1650x1050.
However my graphics card cant handle that. Is there no way to set up a lower 16:10 res f.e 1280x800?
I tried inputting a res using the T3FOV patch but it doesnt work.

Hmm, try setting the res within windows to your desired res (1280*800) and then see what TDS does...

No, sorry. I'd have to reinstall SS2 specially.
I've been using the same patched-up installation for the last 2 years now. Carrying it between various hard drive partitions and OS installations.

I've been having difficulty getting the thief widescreen FOV patcher to work. I run the patcher and type in the resolution I want (1920x1080) but when I click the "Change FOV" button I get an error that says "couldn't find TS_3873." I've done a search (on the web and of my HDDs) for TS_3873 but can't find anything even close to relevant.
I've followed the steps for the widescreen procedure as closely as possible (set resolution to -1 in the user ini) except that I am using the Direct 2 Drive digital copy that comes pre-patched to version 1.1. Not to mention that I didn't "immediately" quit out of the game after running it the first time.
Anyway, I've not been able to find any way to get the FOV patcher to run and am hoping someone here has an answer.
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the download version is somehow encrypted and not modifiable...
Enchantermon on 18/9/2009 at 03:00
The copies from Eidos and EB Games have encrypted crf files and as such are not modifiable unless you grab the crfs and an exe from another source.
I'm not sure about the D2D version, though it may be the same. Try opening one of the crfs in a zip program such as WinRAR or 7zip; if they return an error sayng that the archive is corrupted (or something similar) then they are encrypted.
