Thief 1/2 & SShock 2: DDFix and Enhanced Resolution Patch - discussion - by bikerdude

Any reason why DDfix isn't mentioned in the FAQ? It's a fix for several of the problems the FAQ mentions (multicore processor issues, videos not playing), and of course for the graphics looking terrible (which the FAQ doesn't mention).
I know it's easy enough to find if you search the forums, but it seems like it might help people to mention DDfix in the FAQ.

Ignore those files. They're out of date, and you do not need to be very "technically minded" to use the GUI version!
Couldn't be much simpler.
If people in Germany were using the US-version only - maybe. At least the patch worked well with all the versions on my computer(s).
But there are various German versions and some don't work with the patches recommended. They do have their own 1.18-patches, but there still are some problems with the timeslip-patch then.
Just now I'm trying to help a user on the German Eidos-Board to get his thief-2-copy running, but the GUI won't open at all 'cause of an "unknown error".
So it's much simpler for some users to just exchange the .exe-files.

I'm trying to use ddfix for System Shock 2 (with the pre-patched exe), when I start the game it says that "your video hardware is not supported by SS2" (though the menu works fine) But I have no problem running TDP, TG or TMA.

Hi there
you might have to do as nameless voice did and edit the .exe yourself and post then on the german forum.

Really. Because DDfix is really a catch-all fix for Thief 1/G/2 and SS2 on modern computers.

@coy: Are you running Vista 64-bit? I have the same error on this, it will only run on my xp 32-bit installation :erg:

It's working fine that way - I'm going to keep those files updated on my page as I do with the thief fixed.exes for NVIDIA 5xxxx chipsets.
could you put the German links in a post here and i`ll add it to the beginning of this thread
