I may be wrong, but perhaps the sole file lgvid.ax will suffice?

You need to have correct codecs (Indeo) installed and lgvid.ax registered in the system before game can display movies. lgvid.ax is just simply put a in game video player. It doesn't include any internal codecs, so it needs external ones.

You mean the lightgem problem also was present in TG with 1.1 on older radeons as well as on nvidia cards? As I wrote, the problem doesn't exist in patched T2 (ddfix1.1).
As I posted very early in this thread when I first tested DDFix with Thief 1 (You have read the whole thread, right? ;)), this problem was present in
all DirectX 9 versions of DDFix, along with similar problems in SS2.
The new DX6 versions fix it.

I guess I was under the impression a full install would've installed the codec. I'll download it and install it, then...

I have the latest DDfix. The "video fix" option was already ticked, and it's set to 1 in the ini. Strange. I went to Run to register the codec and that didn't work either. The game launches right into the menu and none of the videos work. It looks great though :)
The videos should work on Vista, you just need to run ThiefG in "Admin Mode" (right click on Thief --> Compatibility --> Run as Admin. Videos should work now. You don't need to reinstall anything and the ddfix.ini video setting won't help either.

rckstn, thanks, I'll give that a try. Two other quick questions: will replacement textures made by Orgy work with DDfix? Also, in the options I have EAX disabled - how to enable it?

Has anybody gotten higher resolutions to work on SS2? Using 1.3.9b last night, I tried to get it to run at 1440x900, but every time I tried to load a game, it would crash, saying my video hardware was not compatible. I'm running an evga 8800 gts with latest drivers, and I tried editing in the resolution to both the ddfix.ini and cam.cfg.

Why wouldn't they? A texture is a still a texture even if someone else made it.

You can't. Direct sound was removed from vista, and is now emulated in software on the cpu. If you have a creative x-fi you can download creative's alchemy application (provides a direct sound -> openal wrapper, openal is still hardware accelerated, so eax still works.)

Custom resolution support in ddfix is for TMA only. If you want to run SS2 at a custom resolution, you'll have to hex edit the exe like normal.

The replacement textures worked fine for me, just follow the usual instructions for setting them up.
EAX in Vista won't work on old games. If you have a SoundBlaster Audigy or X-Fi card you need to use ALchemy (that info is all in the Thief FAQ, it will tell you more there). If you have a SoundBlaster Live! you are SOL.

Evening Timeslip
Im beta testing an FM atm which very large and complex.
When playing it under 1.2.5 or 1.2.6 its fine, smooth no stutter or lag etc.
When playing it under 1.3.9 or 1.3.9b there is huge amounts of lag/stutter when I look around or move..
Any ideas..?
