(Ah, I see we decided to stick to the other DDFIX thread, eh? Well, this is a bit involved with compatibility, so I suppose it stays...)
Nope, I've just given up shouting at them all.

Yeh, well I jumped back a bit to 1.4.5. It doesn't have as many good features as Jermi's work, but it still works fine on my older computer. It's working fine again. :erg:

Right I've just instaled Thief The Dark Project and I can't get it to run.
I get the error message about 3d textures not supported
I'm on WXP service pack 3
graphic card is nvidia GeForce 7300 LE
I've patched it to v1.33
I've downloaded the ddfix
Now I may be being a bit thick but do I need to do anything to the ddfix or should it just run?
How do I fix this pesky problem?
sNeaksieGarrett on 21/4/2011 at 16:24
I'm not familiar with that error, unless you're calling it something different.
Ddfix doesn't just automatically work. You have to either hex edit your exe, or use the old ddfix GUI program. Otherwise, you can get a prepatched exe and just backup your old exe.

The error actually reads "Direct 3D Device does not accurately report texture memory usage"
I've tried downloading the fix on the ttlg faq page but it says "no CD" or just crashes.
Where do I get a "Hex editor" from and is it easy to use?
Thanks

The program I used to hex edit thief a long time ago is called XVI32. I don't know if you can still find it, but I bet you can.
However, like I said in my last post, you could download the
prepatched exe ((
http://www.gamefront.com/files/17376197/thief.exe) Link)if you don't want to hex edit your file. (Or use ddfixGUI.exe - new ddfix packages don't have this, but I can send you a copy if you want. Note: ddfixGUI requires .NET framework however.)
On another note, I think a moderator should really close this thread. It's kind of confusing and or annoying to have two threads with people posting in them about ddfix problems. I think we should close this thread and keep the other one open. Even bikerdude links to it in the first post now.

Thanks for your input - you're right about the two threads as I had real trouble finding my way to this one.
I will search the other threads tho' cos I'm still having problems.
One of which is I don't really understand a lot of the technical jargon used.
I have followed all the instructions at the beginning of this thread and downloaded the both required components but it still won't work.
I think it will be easier to find an old computer lol

Yippee I've done it
This worked for me
(

I went here and basically started again - I uninstalled everything as I couldn't remember what I'd done and then I re-installed TDP (full install) and followed these directions and links.
The only extra thing I had to do was alter my screen resolution.
I'm so happy :D

Cool, glad you got it sorted out.
Nice site you found too.

Yesterday I decided to play Brink because there is a free weekend on steam but I couldn't play because it said the current video card/driver combination wasn't able to run the OpenGL 3.1 so I downloaded the newest driver which was v11.7 and I could play but completely forgot about thief 2 having problems with newer ATI drivers so now I can't play fan missions. Can someone point me to the newest version of ATI driver that works stable with thief 2?
