Thanks for the ideas. Mode Changer is a neat app, but it did not help. I also tried turning off EAX completely with no luck.
I have noticed that T2 is just fine. It's only T1 and it is all of T1.
I might try the modded driver, but I usually stay away from those. T1 worked on current hardware and software not long ago, so I'd really like to know the problem which the modded driver would not allow.
Thanks again.

I'm getting close to that point. My Hodgepodge card stops recording video after 7 minutes for no reason and with no errors all of sudden (possibly same time frame as T1 acting up) so its a good idea. I've been trying to put it off, but that will give me something to do tonight.
Thanks.

I formatted and all missions worked until I fired up 'The Order of the Vine'. That mission still has that problem. But now all others seem to work so I'm happy with that.
Just posting the resolution / known problem.

The Order of the Vine is a multi-language mission (as far as I know), meaning there are english and (in this case) german versions of the mission's sound files. Could that be the reason for the problem in this case, or did you use other missions which offer you more than one language and actually worked?

Very interesting. At first all missions were effected. I formatted and reinstalled and so far only Order of the Vine seems to have this problem, but I have only tried a few for testing. When I load the mission and read the info, it says it is Not multi-language and later in the file simply says Deutsch. Could this be the problem? I always thought the English sound files would still play, like Garrett getting hit with a sword. Thanks for the reply, this is helpful.

Version 1.1 of
The Order of the Vine, available (
http://thiefmissions.com/info.cgi?m=TootV1-1) here at Cheap Thief missions, is definitely a multi-language version. English and German should be fully functional. There is a folder in the zip file called "french", but there is no file in it, so French will most likely not work. There are no french sound files in there anyway, only english and german ones.
I have played
The Order of the Vine with Darkloader 4.3 and Garrettloader 1.41 today, and both apparently gave me a fully playable mission, although Garrettloader could not be used anymore after playing this mission and restoring
Thief Gold properly. Garrettloader furthermore decided to give me the
german version of the mission, although I had selected
english language. Perhaps Garrettloader somehow found out that I'm using a german version of
Thief Gold.
If you are using Garrettloader 1.41 as well, wait for version 1.42 beta from potterr. He said it would come out this week, so perhaps it's already there. If that does not work, try Darkloader instead. The latter is more experienced concerning multi-language missions anyway.
By the way: What program told you
The Order of the Vine was not a multi-language mission? Neither Darkloader 4.3 nor Garrettloader 1.41 told me anything like that, they just silently offered me more than one language.

GarrettLoader. But it was in the readme window. So technically it was the readme file but in the Garrettloader window.
thanks for the advice. I've been looking forward to the new GarrettLoader. I'll try it then.
