Hi,
i installed Thief 1 on Windows 7 today (original version from a games magazine CD). After i handled the usual issues described in the FAQ (had to start the installer bypassing the ntforce check, got to start Thief as admin, change the process affiliation to one CPU core, the usual... :)) it was working finally, even showing the movies, which i wasn't really expecting, after i had to apply the hack from the FAQ on my Windows XP machine...
Anyway now i have another issue, with the key bindings. As already described in many threads on this forum, and confirmed after i looked through the .bnd files created by Thief, it's quite a mess... not only that it doesn't load they key bindings i have set up through Thief's menu, also when i load the key binding i created, it shows a lot of alternative keys, while i actually deleted the key bindings for every single command and set up my own, or left them empty for the ones i don't use. Well that alone wouldn't be much of a problem yet, but i have a harsh issue: the key i set up for the slowwalk command doesn't have any effect combined with the walk forward command. For example when i set up Ctrl key to act as slowwalk and i press it and the W key for walking forward, i still walk forward in the normal speed... it has an effect though when i use it with the back, left and right keys strangely, forward seems to be the only command which has the issue. Already tried a couple of things, from trying several keys to act as slowwalk, Ctrl, Alt, Shift, i also deleted any .bnd files in the Thief directory (which left me with a complete blank key bind table, not even the mouse had bindings anymore :P), then copied the .bnd files from my Windows XP installation, nothing worked really.
Hope one of you guys can help me out there, i read a couple of threads but none of them really worked out for me... the nearest it came was this: (
