It looks too scary for me at the moment :P
I'll have to write more Life in the Old Quarter with my most highly esteemed colleague MrDuck before I can face scary Haunts....

My greatest reward is to know people are enjoying my creations, so I'm glad you guys are enjoying it.
Actually, ThiefinRain, I'm confused by your statement. I think you're referring to the locked door in the "dome of death" (torture room), but that key isn't called the "Bloodstone Key". It's the "dome of death" key.
The background is this: the note near the locked door says "all personnel should carry key at all times". A personnel is lying dead on the floor with a key on his belt. Look at the shadows carefully (this was one of the tougher light sculpting parts of the level) and you'll notice a shadow jutting out toward the body. Using it, you can stay hidden; leaning forward you can snatch the key without ever having to deal with the haunts.

My mistake with the key name, kfgecko.
I still don't see why the key was with the dead guy on the floor; the reason I never bothered to look for it there was because I thought that since this was a torture room, then the poor man on the floor had died from torture, consequently he couldn't be one of the personnel to whom the note was addressed.
Maybe it is clear to others, I don't know. But I had to read the walkthrough to get past this point (only this point, honest

Hmmm. Actually, that sorta answers another question of mine. I noticed that rarely are there any questions from people stuck in Bloodstone Prison posted to the forum. Usually I see many people stuck in other missions; is it because the FAQ helps people help themselves, or is Bloodstone just so old that no one plays it anymore?
ThiefinRain: I see you logic. I never thought of that. Ok, my logic was that the zombie parts on the torture table was the prisoner. The guy dead on the floor was actually a hammer-priest AI set to dead so in my mind I was thinking "Hammer... so he's personnel." But I see where you're coming from.
Anyways, that room was one of the many "situational" puzzles that I designed into Bloodstone, and it was meant to make the player pause and think for a bit; hopefully giving them a sense of accomplishment when they got through.

Yes, your walkthrough is pretty concise and to the point. It gives what you want fast and clearly.
And what do you mean, the mission could be old and no one is playing it anymore?! Heck, I'll be visiting the lower levels of the prison with the boiler room many times even after getting enough of playing the level; these areas are truly well-designed; it is a pleasure (in a masochistic kind of way

I'll be looking forward to playing your other missions.
By the way, kfgecko or frobber, may I ask how much time it takes to design such a mission? Just curious..

Probably about 150 hours sitting at the computer, and many more thinking about it and planning it all day long. The Library took me about 100 hours or so. My current work in progress looks like it'll be about 200 hours, but with over double the amount of off-computer planning. Creature Clash 1 took about 6 hours, and Creature Clash 2 took about 2 hours.
Hey, it's good to hear that you like to wander my level! That makes me feel good. Here's some interesting (to me) trivia about Bloodstone:
- I intentionally made it impossble to use a rope arrow to climb up the prison area.
- One of the prisoners in cell block 2 (CB2, read the log book) befriended a frog... and ever since the offspring of the frogs have been around...
- A prisoner mentioned as being extremely violent (again in log book) is the ONLY violent zombie prisoner; he's the only one that will strike at you if you hide in the shadow of his doorway.
- A prisoner mentioned as being extremely strong (CB1) is the reason why there's a hole in the wall of a cell to the boiler room.
- A pick pocket prisoner in CB2 has a gold ring with his remains.
- The mudslide (that Bando's letter mentions) is the reason why the east stairwells are flooded in.
- The only zombie you actually fight is Bix turned into a zombie (the fugitive guy who wrote the first letter).

Thanks for the info about design time, kfgecko.
I have never tried DromEd, and I am hesitating to start, because once I start I might allow myself to get sucked in. In case I decide to, do you have any advice?

it's fun reading all the different takes on the mission actually. I too remember it being "easy"; It was dangerous and scary and confusing at time but I managed to do it in one sitting (2 and half hours or so). Which honestly made me feel like going back inside and hanging out for a few more hours.
Yet I've read plenty of other reports that the mission stumped people for days.
And i know it's been a while since Ive been playing fan missions but I remember bloodstone being pretty big. it wasn't a sprawling city mission, but there was a heck of a lot going on. Lots of twisting corridoors and achitecture that is realistic and makes sense, and content galore (all of which serves a purpose). Class all round.
(if you want a small mission, try Shunned. More gameplay per square foot than anything anywhere. Mark my words.)

I just finished Bloodstone... Great Mission!
The logic and visuals where stunning. I ended up killing the warden 3 different ways before I figured it out. I had to restart the game and didn't pay as close attention to the clues as I did the first time thru.
I loved the multi-frog shooting gallery!
(as an aside, I'm looking forward to the Library & love Creature Clash)
