Thief 1 Mission: "Bloodstone Prison"... a Kung Fu Gecko production (Nov 24, 1999) - by kfgecko

Fett, did you read the book next to where you found the holy hammer? The book says that St Judel killed the Jiggiwiddi by hitting it with a holy hammer... but was fatally wounded when it exploded.....
So use St Judel's method (the warden has become a Jiggiwiddi) but learn from his mistake...

I'm glad the quality of your work was recognized. This was a great mission, Garrett. Thanks for letting me be one of the first to run through it.

Ok- I finally finished it, and I have to say this mission was equal to almost every one of the originals (better than some IMO)- with the possible exception of Bonehoard. I played 'The Library' and was equally impressed with the quality and story, although I liked the atmosphere of Bloodstone better.
You keep making these and they'll be anitcipated as much as the new official releases - no kidding. The only other fan mission I've seen that even compares is 'Lord Edmund'.

I congratulate thee.

Viper6:
I have really enjoyed the new and "strange" high amount of recent FMs being produced, and KFGecko's level is one of the best FM out there made.
But I wanted to point out a couple things about the Thief Gold missions. Particuarlly on the "Theives Guild." where I get the feeling you were disappointed that it was long but the architecture was plain.
But the answer is simple as to why architecture is plain, it's a "thieve's guild".

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif See, to make it a spectacular wonder of beauty would be to go against logic as we get the idea of what a thieve's guild is supposed to look like, dressing it up would be wrong.
I see where you are coming from, yes indeed as far as pointing out plain architecture and such, but I wanted to also let you know about it from a "logical" standpoint.
This is also evident in the "Opera House" where the interior design was spectacular, but in a normal mansion, it would be "too" dressy.
Regards,
Aurin

Ok, I'm stuck in a...hmmm hard to describe. It looks kinda like a basement, I went there by killing the 2 haunts by a dock and got the bloodstone. In a room there a weird looking appartion that like almost invicible. There the adminsteration key there. I got it, where do I use it. And there a nasty looking zombie with a cloak walking around. I dunno if its an ally or enemy cause I usually run away before it comes near me. Who is that zombie and what does it do?

Scroll up this thread for several posts with hints, and a complete walk through.

Ok, I beat the level, before I got that reply. I thought the game would be like Super Scary. But I guess I'm only think zombies are scary. Cause the servant and the 'guy' walking around is scary.

Like Sunsurfer who posted a thread of appreciation for The Order of The Vine, I wish to commend BloodStone Prison, which I have just completed...with a wow.
Thanks kfgecko for a fabulous mission, though a bit short.
One comment if I may: I would never have guessed that the bloodstone key to the north wing was with that guy in that chamber..It is just too much to guess.
Thanks again.

IMHO Bloodstone is the
real benchmark against which FMs have been measured for the last year or so (notwithstanding the Circle's rules on handing out metal hammers).
Given how early it was made, it is especially amazing -- even after all this time very few other FMs have measured up in balance, clarity, and completeness.
As is the premise for Men-In-Black -- Size doesn't matter. What matters is quality. I'll play a clean medium-sized mission over something big and haphazard any day.
