thief 1 goal notification fix needed

In thief 1 and thief gold when i finish a objective the goal notification is not working no message or sound.
How can i fix this please?
It is turned on in game option but still not working.

Goal notification works only when youget new objectives added to your list of todos, but not if you complete them.
