So, at first I got the "Does not accurately report texture memory usage" error when starting Thief on a computer I haven't played it before on (Windows XP Service Pack 3 or possibly 2; I can't check from here). I got the "fix" exe for the right version (1.33) and replaced the default one with it. Now when I load a mission (I only tried A Keeper's Training so far), it just crashes with an error report after the gauges spin and it would normally initialize the game world.

I have tried going into software acceleration, and the game loads right, except for one thing: there are no sounds of footsteps, and when the guys standing on the platform at the end of the shadow and quietness tests should say "Well done. I did not see you approach.", they don't, and the door to the next room never opens.

Does anyone know why it's crashing? I would rather have hardware acceleration on if possible. Video card: GeForce 7300 GT. Sound: Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 Gamer ZS. Thanks in advance for any help.
