Thief: 1 + 2: Can't get past Menu... - by Corvin25

Thief: DP and TMA are simply not working as they should.
The cutscenes play properly. I can "shop" for things properly before each mission. (buying arrows, etc)...
But when the actual game starts in either DP or TMA, Everything just stops. I've gone to extensive lengths to try and get this working properly, but to no avail.
I set the programs to work on a single core... set the compatibility mode to Windows 98, even tried setting it so it would run at 640 x 480, and even used "WinLauncherXP" so it would start with only 1 processor.
Thief 1 just blacks out while the menu "machine" sounds grind away. For Thief 2, it just "empties" out the window, showing my desktop's image.

Yeah. So I used DDfix, no effect whatsoever. I put the ddfix files in their proper directories, applied the DDfix patches, used the fixed EXEs, nothing. Black screen when the game graphics start.
I tried rolling back my nvidia drivers to 169.44, still the same. Absolutely *NOTHING* is working, short of just using a really old computer.
