You mean like third person? Fancy compound bow that probably shoots arrows at light speed? This time out it'll probably be a six foot long steel spiked mace labeled "blackjack"?
exactly, you're demonstrating the point. You're complaining about your own speculations. I'm not saying you won't end up being correct, but save the complaining until your fears are actually confirmed. I promise we won't take away your right to say "told you so."

For me, it ain't about more buttons, though that's a minor thing I do like, being fond of Moog synthesizers.

TO EVERYONE: This is just my opinion----I don't like reboots myself, I feel if the original was good enough (or great in many cases) then what's the point? Make a new IP or set it in the same world with other people as the focus. This is mainly to do with the new Star Trek, but there have been movies that I don't like because I loved the original. Mind you, this is what I feel, not what I think is right for everyone. I'm not trying to tell anyone what to think. Just my 2 cents. This doesn't have to be commented on or addressed, I just wanted to say it.
Because Eidos corporate wouldn't have funded it. I'll bet anything the studio would rather be making a new game and I'm sure they've plenty of ideas, but the company isn't willing to throw big money behind anything that isn't a successful franchise.

I'm interested in what sort of supernatural factors will be shown. Thief has always had zombies and pagans and thinly-defined magic. The undead missions are my favorite ones, so I hope there's some dedicated walking dead. And I really hope they don't run. I prefer the shambling zombie.
But the compound bow kinda threw me off. I guess the Hammerites or Mechanists could've invented such a thing, but the latter stuck with crossbows.

If we do that, we'll have nothing to complain about for a while, till they release more information :) :laff:

Petike, Dishonoured was inspired by Thief. There's an easter egg to Thief in the last level, but I haven't gotten there yet, so I don't know what it is, and I don't want to know yet.
Well, that's certainly not news. From what I've seen of
Dishonored, it does look genuinely
Thief-inspired. The devs seemed to have given it enough of its own flare and lore though, which is always a plus.
Truth be told, the recent announcements concerning Thief IV caught me completely off guard. I was half-expecting that everyone on the net, fan or non-fan alike, would start drawing comparisons to
Dishonored after that. And my expectations proved quite true - I guess people are a bit predictable when it comes to certain worries. :D

jtr7, is this considered a reboot then? I'm never sure till things actually get released.
Same here. As I said in another thread, I think they're going for only a partial reboot, or a distant sequel with retcons, if you will.

I thought I read in that bulleted list that Garrett left the city after 3 and he's only just returned, finding the plague and the Baron.
It wasn't said explicitly that it's set after the original trilogy, but as I've said above, there are certain hints that this new installment won't be a total reboot of everything. Then again, maybe it isn't a sequel. We'll have to wait for a more concrete answer.

I myself am interested on how they've handled it. Well,
will handle it. It isn't exactly completely finished yet.

IIRC, Ultima IV on the C64 used the whole keyboard, or close to it. It's probably already been said, but the graphics are sort of secondary. Developers have spent so much on visuals I can't really tell the engines apart anymore. The art direction seems competent Visuals were never Thief's forte anyway. Sound was.
For the love of The Builder, spend on the sound. Even TDS recognized that, despite it's failings. Soundscapes comprised of internal narration, external movement, environmental clues, gameplay prompts and the feverish, ambient backgrounds.
The story will be whatever. Some sort of DARK, SINISTER CONSPIRACY, like 99% of the market. Give us the sound Ubisoft.

Anyone else notice that all Ubisoft games have the same feel to them? I'm trying to nail it down.
